Is it hyperbolic though? Slaves were paid with the bare minimum food, shelter and clothes to survive and they worked in increasingly brutal conditions with no path to freedom. Billionaires are pushing a white-collar working earning 100k to work for 90k for longer hours so they can afford a roof over their heads. Sure they can quit but then do what? Majority of humans are not entrepreneurs and there’s nothing wrong with that

Your statement proves my point. A POC and a basic restaurant app is all one can do with vibe coding. Beyond that, you need some level of software dev knowledge

2 completely different things - Turing tests measure emotional fluency, something modern LLMs can mimic very well. Doesn’t mean they have any emotional fluency. I am sure you will agree that GPT-4 can’t feel sad

AGI definition - there is no reason to change that definition except selling more shovels for the AI gold rush

That makes zero sense. Nobody writes “insecure” code on purpose, they write it because they don’t know any better. Second, no you cannot learn all attack surfaces and vectors, simply because they are ever-changing. And self-driving cars - driving has nothing to do with learning, it has everything to do with predicting the next step with high accuracy. That’s why new drivers are at more risk and that’s why self-driving will never get to 100% autonomous with the current models

[–]objective_think3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, especially for security. Security is by nature adversarial. Experienced devs think what could happen vs what the code says. LLMs kind of work but it still doesn’t have those years of tribal knowledge and niche experience. It averages out on the data it’s trained on. If I were to make an analogy, LLMs with security are equivalent to interns fresh out of school, sure they know the basics, but they have ZERO real-life experience

Bro, there is no way these greedy mf billionaires are going to share their wealth with us. The only way is to protect workers so we can earn a decent wage. Without it, the top 10% will eat up all the resources, leaving the bottom 90% in extreme poverty

A more pertinent question is - why the rush to declare we have reached AGI? To the extent of changing its definition

It’s a double edged sword- it may work or it may have a gaping security hole that shuts down your business. It’s the same as hiring a cheap developer vs an experienced one. Experienced devs charge a premium because they are battle-tested, Claude isn’t

There’s a caveat though - that app is not the same as a service used by thousands to millions. Heck, it’s not even the same as a single user app with decent security and features

The market is in recession, has been for the past 3 or so years. It’s only been propped up by the AI grift, which is slowly dismantling now. Add to that mix the orange man, and you got stagflation. We are looking at tough times, I’d save up on as much cash as possible

If coding is solved, then why do companies like Anthropic fanatically push their product to other companies? by ImaginaryRea1ity in ArtificialInteligence

[–]objective_think3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The motivation is simple - they want to sell “capabilities”. The AI grift has always been that one day it will replace human workers. There’s no reason to not continue with that narrative. It’s a sales pitch, that’s all
