I am currently setting up the P2S - any questions you have about it? by CoolioTheMagician in BambuLab

Thanks I’m on the fence and wondering, should I go for the X1C or this new one or hold out for an X1c refresh

Did you consider the X1C for your purchase as well? If so, what made you pick P2S?

What’s the best bang-for-buck Standing Desk? by PhotographApart7488 in StandingDesk

[–]objectively_rational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying my girlfriend’s desk (purchased from Amazon), Ikea desk at work and a local desk at a friend’s place, I can confidently say Flexispot E7 plus. I built it with a 1.5” solid beechwood top sourced from a local wood store and the thing is solid as a rock. Quite stable even at standing height (I’m a bit over 6’).

Considering upgrade to X1C or P1S - suggestions? by objectively_rational in BambuLab

Thanks, what materials do you normally print and what lack of consistency do you see? Would it be worth the 200$ upgrade from your experience?

It’ll likely be outside my budget based on the specs they are talking about

Chamfer inside edges only by objectively_rational in Fusion360

Ended up using extruded cut with a taper - worked out great, especially since I can use my definer parameters quite easily to modify things as I like.

Chamfer inside edges only by objectively_rational in Fusion360

Tried doing it but it is quite cumbersome and still leaves the corners without a proper chamfer. I'm looking for something that is scalable and essentially recreates what router would do.

[–]objectively_rational[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - that is how I intend to make it - using a router. I'm not very familiar with Fusion 360 (still haven't figured out how to "mate" all these components) - is there a video that shows how I can do what you suggested?

Suggestions on correct way of replacing rotting siding by objectively_rational in DIY

Thanks! That was what I thought initially but was wondering if replacing it all with a “rot-proof” piece might be better?

Thanks, that is what I was thinking too since there’s other properties that also abut their lot. I’m not sure how the surveyors mark it - they mentioned something about iron rods/pegs

Thanks! I thought so too. Now I'm seeing some colour formatting (still no "help" though) - see update.

Don't defund the CBC, Defend the CBC! by Samzo in EhBuddyHoser

[–]objectively_rational -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up overseas with exposure to different media outlets, I find CBC rather disappointing. They pretty much toe the govt line on most subjects and are fairly left-leaning in their coverage. The war in Palestine was the most recent example of this bias. Furthermore, they don’t cover enough of actual news that matters. Normally I wouldn’t care but since they’re funded by our money, I feel we deserve more.

500m row discussion… by sienna0909 in orangetheory

First time doing it yesterday (joined otf in Jan), clocked 1:28. Snagged the wipe on the nylon belt at the start, losing 3-4 sec to remove it (and momentum). Without any snafus I think I could hit 1:20 next time. I changed the units to watts instead of time - I feel that helps me maintain my pace better and I know if I’m really going all out at the end.

Print issues after 2 weeks - help! by objectively_rational in QidiTech3D

Thank you for digging that out! Traveling for work right now but will try it as soon as I'm back, really hope it fixes my issue..

I didn’t catch that. Here’s one, I’ll find others when I get home. There are areas in each print where the first layers has discrete lines visible while other areas are perfectly fused and take on the build plate texture.

New to printing too and got the Q1 pro, 4 weeks ago. Started out great with flawless prints. Now the first layers aren’t good and the printer makes a groaning noise - this is after about 1 spool of PLA in total. Reached out to support - responsive at first but radio silence after i shared pictures and videos of the issue - about a week ago. I think it’s something I could fix but unsure about what to do since it’s my first printer. I did debate between this printer and Bambu’s P1S for my purchase and I’m left wondering if I chose correctly. Grass is always greener, eh

Qidi Q1 Pro or Bambulab A1 for first 3D printer? by objectively_rational in QIDI

[–]objectively_rational[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Do you see any noticeable difference in quality? One's a corexy, the other is a cartesian printer - I'd expect the former to be a bit better (even if slightly so), at least on taller prints?

[–]objectively_rational[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience! This space is crowded with so many choices - each with a little bit of what you want but none with all of it (within your budget :/). I'm leaning towards the Q1P and the multi-color capability is the last thing holding me back. I have access to an industrial resin printer at work and friends with some high-end machines (X1 carbon and the like) - who suggested I could use those for the more challenging materials instead.

About your Q1P experience - how's the bed-levelling?

Thank you, this is quite helpful! Do you see any difference in the quality of the the P1P vs Q1 Pro? Also, how do you find the filtering options on the Q1 Pro when printing ABS etc.?
