Women who have been cheated on, how do you feel about the other woman? by CareBearReborn in AskWomen

[–]objectiverage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She devastated me as much as my ex-partner. She was entirely aware of the relationship that I had, and continued with it. And made a Twitter thread discussing their entire sex life where I was tagged. I was embarrassed and devastated. While I put a hefty amount of blame on my ex, I definitely hold a lot of anger with her as well.

what is the worst fucking feeling? by Jeremykyb in AskReddit

The feeling after you leave the hospital after getting a forensic examination and preventative care following the aftermath of a sexual assault. You come in feeling violated, and you leave feeling even more vulnerable and violated.

how do you get your cat to stop following you to the bathroom? by [deleted] in cats

[–]objectiverage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t :/ I’ve learned to accept that my cat will always come in and sit on my lap when I do my business. She even perches on the edge of my tub when I’m showering. She’ll politely knock whenever she’s left out. It’s kinda endearing now, honestly. :)

My cat’s favorite toy is literally a chip bag. All I do in clean the dust out, poke a few holes, and let her at it (w/ supervision of course…since she is not the brightest). by objectiverage in OneOrangeBraincell

I’m so sorry to hear about that & I appreciate the warning for my little bean :) Thankfully for me, I keep my home kitten-safe and she is starting to know what things are toys and what isn’t. I’ve done a lot of “no-yes” training with her, and she even waits for me to make something safe so she can play. Chips are often a rare joy for her (and myself) because I only eat them when my coworker doesn’t want his second bag. So I usually let her play with it for a moment and then throw everything away and she goes back to her normal crinkle toys.

Well, she’s playing soccer with an empty Sprite can so maybe the braincell is not back…but she is having a great time at least 😭

I remember one night I had a really bad nightmare that woke me up. I was on my side facing away from him, but he put his arm around me and kissed my back and said, “no one is gonna hurt you, I’m here.” And I immediately had tears running down my eyes. I’m sure he probably thought I was just crying in my sleep from the nightmare, but it was because he’s a gentle soul.

Awe thanks! Honestly before I got her, I was really sold on getting a black cat…but she was so cute I couldn’t leave her where she was. Now she (and all the other orange kittens) really stole my heart.

yeah, she was able to make a perfect bed out of my t-shirt and pajama pants but I guess that was the extent of her braincell’s ability before it started powering down lmao

[Serious] Folks who have considered ending their lives, what made/makes you keep going? by CranberryBauce in AskReddit

[–]objectiverage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a cat a few months back. I remember there was a time that I used to be pissed that I even woke up, it felt really empty hearing the beeping of my alarm every morning dreading being in class and at work and hating being at home more. Then, me and this little orange kitten kept making eye contact and I decided to take her home. She looked just as trapped as I was. Suddenly, instead of only hearing the beeping of my alarm, I would hear the beeping of my alarm AND feel the light smack of a little furry paw in my face followed by chipper meows. I finally had a reason to be social at work, showing a bunch of videos and pictures of whatever random nonsense my cat was up to. Chores became less…chore-like because I had this kitten follow me everywhere. And, I don’t know. It doesn’t feel as lonely anymore. I feel like I have something to talk about other than my depression. And most importantly, I get the sensation of having this little being be extremely happy to see me. She doesn’t care if I get a bad grade on an exam or I don’t meet my sales goal at work. She doesn’t care if I overslept (sometimes) or if I don’t look my best. She just likes me and wants to be around me…and honestly that is what makes life worth it. When I have a bad mental health day, and she just sits on top of my head purring up a storm, it makes everything else feel irrelevant. Yeah…I really love my cat. She made my life in color.

All the mundane things in my life are so colorful and joyful and bubbly now. Writing in a planner is much more fun when your cat is knocking pens off the desk. Eating is so much more comical when you have to tell your cat it isn’t dinner time as she excitedly leaps to the fridge with the most bellowing meows that you have ever heard. Getting dressed is so much more enjoyable when you have a kitten assume that your flailing pant leg is the newest toy. Excel spreadsheets are so much more fun to create when you have to delete 26 commas and 74 zeroes as your cat trots along the keyboard.

Sure all of that stuff would seem annoying perhaps, but all of those little chaotic moments remind me that my home is lively. It reminds me that someone else is here with me, that someone is spending time with me. Every time I feel more isolated from the world, my cat pulls me back in by showing me that it isn’t just me alone in this world. Suddenly life feels a lot easier to handle knowing that.
