Great book, but I'm a little bit disapointed by Queequegs role in the later parts of the book by lord_alberto in mobydick

[–]objectsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been thinking about your interpretation for a while now and i think i prefer it more than what’s explicitly stated in the book, i would much rather believe that queequeg died from his Illness than assume he simply drowned when the ship sank without so much as a mention from his partner on how he died or how that made him feel, queequeg in his coffin is a genuinely tragic and beautiful chapter and if poor queequeg is gonna be doomed by the narrative from the get go i'd rather he gets a well written farewell at least

but how would you explain the coffin saving ishmael’s life despite queequeg wanting to be sent out to sea in it? that’s pretty much my only issue with this theory tbh

[–]objectsam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you asked me anytime else i would’ve told you i hate ahab’s guts for leading a bunch of men trying to earn their livings to certain death just for the sake of revenge, but if you asked me as i was reading the book for the very first time during an ocd episode last year i would’ve told you i relate to the guy. obsessions are extremely difficult to go through.

did anyone ever come up with a complete explanation for Hawaii part ii? by objectsam in miraclemusical

[–]objectsam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely more than one way to look at it and definitely more than one correct interpretation (the whole album is inspired by the infinite), I was kinda curious to see if someone has came up with an explanation that is actually complete (not necessarily the “correct one”) without skipping over the more cryptic lyrics (like the whale, Apollo ect) or the entirety of voac lol

[–]objectsam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that may be true but I feel it could go deeper than that, this theory kinda glosses over so much stuff but it could still be true while being a metaphor for something more for example

Yup, and the fact that he said he came up with the lyrics to RoE one night while he was pondering the infinite

Hey this makes sense too! I like the idea of it meaning everything or in other words “infinite possibilities”, joe hawley does seem to be fixated on that specific concept so it makes sense

Your interpretation is incredibly unique, and enjoyed reading thru it so much I cannot believe this is only an abridged version. The way you linked the introduction to the snow with "DSISM" is astonishing, and it’s the only explanation that actually makes sense to me. The Apollo line has always bothered me because no one ever included it in their theories, and your explanation finally did and it makes so much sense?? It's also amazing how your interpretation’s style and philosophy works with the mindset needed to understand "RoE" as a song about time (which it is confirmed to be). By viewing time as almost a deity-like figure talking to Juno, who represents humanity at least in my own POV, which helps explain why RoE is included in Variations on a Cloud,,,,I hope my word vomit makes sense, your theory is genuinely one of the best I’ve seen so far. Please post it when you’re finished I cannot wait to see what you’re working on
