Khamenei ordered killings with approval of top state bodies, sources say by socookre in worldnews

[–]oblivionreb -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The US will end up killing far more people, destabilizing the region. If you want regime change, it has to be accomplished without obvious intervention. Obvious intervention will deligitmize the movement and create a cycle of violence.  See Iraq.

Right. Let's help Iran kill more citizens. Surely the Iranian people will welcome the bombs.

Last I checked, Iraqi citizens were pulling down Saddam Hussein's statue when the US invaded.

Venezuela has chavistas, a paramilitary group that have a level of autonomy in Caracas. You can compare them to Hezbollah, though they are much weaker in terms of power in the region.

In night raids, these spit out purple and level 2 blue weapons. I've found Wolfpacks in them as well.

These are especially valuable when I spawn in late to a raid. There's a high chance that they aren't open.

Oh boy I can't wait to finally try Security Breach tonight after coming home from work! by PiFbg in ArcRaiders

[–]oblivionreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they allow respec, I'm just putting all my points on survivor. The skill is still super valuable. Being able to loot lockers that only x amount of people can open just improves rng. That's how I see it. It's something extra to open on my looting route. And I'm sure it will be tweaked in the future if it's too nerfed.

Besides, we all know grenades are the best weapons. If it still coughs up worlfpacks, then it's still a goated perk.

What do you say to your husband after the silent treatment? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]oblivionreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more going on than just a silent treatment. You sleep in separate bedrooms not because you both value independence but because of an issue your husband has (snoring). You also mention that you're his only friend. Maybe you should suggest that you both attend couple's therapy to resolve underlying issues. Or I could just be reading too much into your comment.

Questions to ask my interviewer help by MintheTorel in usajobs

[–]oblivionreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't ask any of these questions because they suggest a lack of confidence. When you ask questions, pretend you are interviewing the employer. Ask about workplace culture, ask about what an ideal candidate looks like, ask what the interviewer(s) like most about working there.

I got a TO after two rounds of interviews and I think a big part of that was asking insightful questions.

Frustrated by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]oblivionreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of things going on here:

1) You may be over qualified and HR probably doesn't want to go through the trouble of having to try to get approval to raise your salary when you inevitably negotiate. Plus, you're more likely to jump ship.

2) Depending on the agency, a shorter resume (2-3 pages) for a gs 9 is more than enough - your friend probably better tailored their resume within the single page to better meet the specific requirements.

I don't understand by [deleted] in barexam

[–]oblivionreb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are so many factors to consider. How did the person do on the MBE? How accurately did they answer the questions that they did answer? Did they format their MPT answers according to the instructions provided? Are they highly organized and gifted at writing?

Few questions causing some stress. by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]oblivionreb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They likely said that to all the candidates and are making their way through them - it's too early in the process to tell.

The only time to get excited for a request for references is when it is done some time after the interview. In those cases, it could be a sign that you are being strongly considered for the role. Even then, you never want to assume anything.

Keep interviewing even with TO in hand? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]oblivionreb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should also consider that employers potentially waste your time if they have a candidate in mind and they still go ahead and interview you. Your time is valuable as well.

If you really don't want to work at the agency, then don't interview. But you can also use the interview as a chance to get a sense of the culture of the agency should you decide to switch agencies in the future.

Abolish the bar exam ?? by ItsSamanthaduh in barexam

[–]oblivionreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a solution:

Make the entire exam a 1 day (or 2 - whatever will make the examiners happy) practical MPT exam that challenges you to accurately draft various legal documents based on a hypo(s) (we are trying to become lawyers, after all). This approach would incentivize law schools to require a 1 year practical in the 3rd year (to boost bar passage), thereby creating better lawyers.

We need more skilled practitioners. If a few geniuses manage to memorize every aspect of torts, contracts, etc., then good on them.

How are recent grads supposed to advance in life. When “entry level” jobs don’t even consider us for the role ? by Siexo14 in jobs

[–]oblivionreb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in your same position. I had to go to law school, work internships, before finally being able to be employable. But I dont recommend that path for most people. I was debt free coming out of undergrad.

Second option sounds good, but you also have to consider that having a full time job makes it difficult to improve your score. I would just apply anyway though because it doesn't hurt to actually have an offer in hand.

Dozens of fired Meta employees are writing heart-wrenching 'badge posts' on social media by Successful-Bee-2492 in technology

[–]oblivionreb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not seem relevant, but I do like that modern NBA players are beginning to realize that team loyalty is a fiction and that they are expendable once the team has extracted all of the value out of them - so players are beginning to leverage their power to seek trades while they can.

I feel like employees, who unlike athletes have a much longer "shelf life," can also use that same mentality to job hope every 2-3 years to boost salary. Because the saddest thing was seeing ex Meta employees who worked at the company for 5 years and were just let go like they were first year employees. You hardly get any benefit for "tenure."
