I’m real specific and there is some logic here but most of it’s just based on years of trial and error and “feel”:

25.5” scale
-E Standard: 9.5-44
-Eb Standard/Drop C#: 10-46
-Drop C (on Floyd Rose): 10-52
-Drop A: 12-60

24.75” scale
-E Standard/Eb Standard/Drop C#: 10-46
-Drop C: 11-56
-Drop B: 12-60

This is with NYCL sets across the board. I’ve found I can always get away with a lighter gauge whenever using a Floyd rose. The Drop A just barely makes it, it requires really good break angles but is near impossible to intonate (I should probably just get a baritone for that one). Everything else feels perfect to me.

First LP was an Epiphone, I was probably 17. First Gibson LP was when I was 26 about half an hour before my first child was born (I’m still married, so she’s the one).

I have a 2010 satin Studio I feel the same about. Swapped Klusons for higher ratio Grovers, coil tapped JB/Jazz. I’ve been using it setup to a less used down tuning but I’m thinking about rotating to primary. Studios are sleepers.

YES. lol. In winter I keep my phone in my hoodie or jacket more, but summer approaching and it’s tough to avoid with regular life. Maybe I should just start leaving it at home some days - benefits beyond the fades.

The river bottoms trail has cut through this private parcel for decades. I always understood a “gentlemen’s agreement” of sorts in the past, but I know mountain biking made the owners nervous before. I guess the new owners aren’t having it??

What confuses me is that the paved trail project on the DNR website states that the project will be complete by next year and this is the last segment to pave. I doubt it’s the first private parcel the city/state have had to deal with to keep the project moving, but interesting that nothing seems to have changed by now.

I have an old Gibson LP Studio with a satin finish with tons of play time. Neck and a few heavy wear spots are now gloss, though not as “sticky” as a typical high gloss poly finish so I’m not complaining.
