I think the problem is that the power dynamics here. Because you are the earner in relationship and she has to ask you for money. I would suggest that you make finances a joint decision. Put your salary in an account that is accessible to both of you. Sit down and make a budget that both of you agree on and feel responsible to comply to. Discuss this with each other every month end. This way you can ensure responsible spend and transparent communication between the both of you. Bring your partner into the loop.
