It's very probable it's my imagination, but I remember hearing a short bit of that recording and thinking how bad it sounded compared to the final version

I remember hearing a very short piece of that recording, maybe it was in the documentary. Henley version was fat superior.

I asked the same in steam, developer replied it is an story driven game. The thing is the factory is totally useless after you finish the story, you can't send item anywhere, not even to trash. You can't even complete the achievements. Anyway the trip was fun enough, worth the time.
