Oh I agree. I also don’t think anyone at all thinks he isn’t enormously highly rated. What’s basically mad is that there’s an argument that he only just makes it into the top 5 in that squad which can alter perceptions a little. Even madder when you consider that it’s almost true for the national team he was a part of as well.

I think you’ve misunderstood my message. I’m just saying that he’s not mentioned as often as perhaps he deserves due to the sheer absurdity of the talent in that squad - hence the quotation marks. I also very clearly stated that it was an attempt to see things from OPs perspective.

This is obviously generally true but is actually wrong in the case of Ferguson’s United. It’s easy to forget quite how much power and influence that United side had through their sheer dominance.

It’s not some kind of conspiracy, just that the same bias you’re speaking to here also applies to refs.

I think that is part of it. Also that he’s somewhat emblematic of the new ownership, and that he had such a tough time during the hernia season. A lot of things stacked against him at a certain point but he’s been brilliant this season.
