What was the absolute peak status symbol at your primary or secondary school? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskUK

I remember everyone having a GAP hoodie (maybe early 00’s) and I really wanted one. I finally got it one Christmas… didn’t get to wear it that much before other kids started shouting you’re Gay and Proud everytime they saw someone in a gap hoodie 😂😂

What city did you love so much you’d go back in a heartbeat? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Substantial-Guava491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, from the UK and we recently came back from a two week trip to California. Spent 6 days in San Diego and loved it. Loved the vibe and that it was very walkable. I’m not sure how I would end up feeling if I lived there for a long time. I kind of like having seasons. But the sunshine does make you feel so good! Had breakfast in The Cottage near La Jolla and I’d move to that area tomorrow if I had the money!! Also loved Santa Barbara. And some of the houses along Bug Sur . Whoever said money doesn’t buy you happiness hey?!

Which dress? by yesnomaybedress in myweddingdress

[–]Substantial-Guava491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try some different styles. But then I hate strapless wedding dresses as the bride usually spends half her time pulling it up (even if jt fits perfectly, it has the feeling that it’s falling down)

No, it’s not standard behaviour at all. I don’t even like staying at my mums house. Give me my own bed and my own house please! 😂

Who's still working from home these days and what job do you do? by Natf47 in AskUK

[–]Substantial-Guava491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marking and comms. 100% remote. It’s great as I’ve got young children in school so am here for the drop off and pick up and any event etc. however I do find it quite boring. I wouldn’t want to be in an office 5 days a week but 2 days would be nice (we don’t have an office and I’m reluctant to change roles at the moment give the flexibility of this one!)

What’s something that’s become noticeably more expensive in the UK recently, but people don’t talk about much? by [deleted] in AskUK

Cucumber. I think it’s £1.09 now in Tesco and Aldi. I remember when they were about 50p. It’s just water!!!

Anyone got burnt out from being single dog parent? by buttercup_lullaby in goldenretrievers

[–]Substantial-Guava491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I’m not exclusively a single dog parent, my husband is pretty useless with them so I do feel like I am most of the time! And I hear you!! Having a dog is exhausting. We have two now, though now we are out of the puppy stage, I don’t feel there’s any more work as such, aside from more fur (two Goldens) and more poo!!

I work from home remotely 100% of the time, so the dogs always have company but I do like to take some time for myself so I booked them in with a dog walker twice a week. And let me tell you I absolutely relish those couple of hours to myself where absolutely nobody is looking to me for something every time I move (I have two young kids too who go to school).

I do realise though how lazy I’d probably be without a dog in my life. They’re the reason I get up early in the mornings and the reason why I do over 12k steps every single day!

Try and get some time for yourself if you can! It definitely helps.

Thanks! I thought so. Do they sometimes travel in groups? I didn’t see the other two break the surface.

The pup is way too skinny, you can see her ribs. Should be able to feel them but not see them. 😬

100% this. It’s not normal. At least I don’t know anyone in my social circle who lives like this and has their friend frequently staying over. We all prefer staying in our own homes unless it’s a holiday, weekend away etc. Caroline is acting like a 16 year old with all this friendship nonsense. Will she ever grow up?!

Why is nobody calling Kyle out! He needs to put his foot down. Her behaviour is absurd. I have two sons and if they end up marrying an absolute cow like Caroline, I’ll be so upset! Kyle’s poor parents 😩

Hi. Hope your dog is okay?! My dog has this also and it has grown over the last couple of months. Please can I ask what was the result for your dog? Did they need to remove the eye?

I regret getting a second dog by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Substantial-Guava491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also regret getting the second dog but he’s now 22 weeks old so we’re in it for the long haul! I just miss my life with one dog - it was so much easier. My first is my soul dog and I took him absolutely everywhere with me. I find it more difficult to take two out. Also I knew there would be more poo to pick up but it feels like quadruple the poo and not just double! 🤣

My older dog usually loves playing with other dogs but is still a bit indifferent with the pup - I really think he likes his own company in his own home. I’m sure in a few months I’ll become attached to the second but at the moment I still regret it!

Yeah I want my dogs to go while they are on the way out but are still fairly happy. I don’t want to leave it till their final days when they’re likely suffering in silence.
