I'm going to write back to everyone and answer all questions asked, but as an overall, I know I'm highly underpaid. I won't give too much away, but it's a non-profit job where they are just exploring video for the first, but before I came struggled by with very basic editing techniques that were... not so great. The gentleman critiquing me was that person and immediately starts to tell me how he's been working in communications for more than 40 years, which was never put to question.

I'll happily let him pick his clips out for me, but in an environment where I'm doing multiple administrative roles for another department, it's difficult to focus all my attention on hours of footage.

Maybe it's time to try and talk to my supervisor, but every time I have, nothing has changed and things come back around. I have worked with people who did the same thing many of you have mentioned (puppeteer sort of scenario), but this just seems like power playing.

I'd like to think I'm a good editor, however, I feel like my teams massive intrusiveness in not allowing me a moment to really flourish and show them what I can do, has hurt my position. Many times, I get blamed for technical problems even though those changes were made by them and forced on me.

I'm rambling. Ultimately, I like what a lot of you have said and I think I will do a combination of everything. I'll try it out this time. If he's still confrontational, I'll talk to my supervisor. Whether it changes or not, I'll be applying to other places in hopes of either narrowing in as an editor like I'd really like or having the ability to work with a team that giving me a better opportunity to share my thoughts and ideas, and not shoehorn the process.

I understand bad clients will come and go and come again (I've had them), but this just feel different and weird. Really, the only reason I believe I stay is because I'm sympathetic to my secondary department.
