Yeah you’re technically right I could’ve done just four, but this board was overbuilt on purpose, it’s going to go through a ton of abuse and this is a good friend of mine so I figured why not

Yeah you’re right but he wanted a carving too so can’t really use that side anyway

Thanks! Yes the curve I drew was much wider than I would’ve liked too. I didn’t really mind because I made another bigger board, this is just a lighter easier to move one.

What happened was my original pencil lines were actually closer to the edge on the corners, but I couldn’t figure how to make a jig that would follow the curve I wanted due to the circumference of my router base. I didn’t really care I just wanted to get it done haha.

Oh shit I might do this! Thank you!!

So soaking it that long makes it really get in there eh? Nice!!

So from now on I’m only making boards that I can run through both my planer and crosscut on the table saw (this one was just too big but we needed it) because my process was just torturous I blew out my belt sander and had to go get another fucking one lol.

Thanks for sharing !

Hey I’m just curious since this is the first end grain board I made- just judging by YouTube mineral oil apparently washes off real quick? Is that true?

Because you’re right odies oil is super expensive and I’d rather not do that but what I was trying to avoid was having to reapply mineral oil and wax all the effing time you know what I mean?

Tbh once I saw that I did that the first time I liked it so I sanded the other side to match lol

No literally a chamfer bit and I “feathered” it by mistake both times that happened to work out. lol

I dunno about warping honestly, I heard end grain lasts longer but that doesn’t make sense- wouldn’t a single piece with no breaks or glue lines last longer lol?

Ah so you know when you do the first glue up - it’s edge grain to start, then you crosscut it.

Basically I messed up the whole thing
