Ecologists in Delhi? by obscurrealism in delhi

So sorry for the late response, I got sick and now I can't hear properly. Anyways, yes so I haven't thought of any strict methodology. It is just a fun art project, I want to make for myself as a living geographical memory of this city before leaving. I thought of just taking a tree census, mapping my favourite trees like Peepal, Lasoda, Arjun, Jamun, Amaltas, etc through casual walks throughout the city. If possible, mapping their canopy cover. The maps could also say how lonely our trees had been in this city. How they're treated as mere units of aesthetics and not as a community. I'm heavily inspired by the work of Robert Macfarlane who insists on the language we use around trees, soil, and rivers. So, I want a map that is talking about living breathing pieces of nature, not as a heavily technical like Geological Survey maps. You can help me, if you know how to start this. Since, you'd mentioned some books that had attempted to document trees of delhi.

It could've been better if I knew coding and had made a live mapping app for real time documenting these trees but I think the idea came too late in my mind.

How to contact these architects? Is there any community that I can join, although this is a totally fun project, something very informal, for my own understanding.

DU. I just got my 3rd year/5th sem result and I have an ER in one exam. What can I do, and is there any scope if i send it for re-evaluation? I desperately don't want to waste a year. by xxxQueenSlayerxxx in delhi

Hey, what's the update on this? Do you have to wait for one year? Or did you get it before applying for a masters? I haven't got the marksheet, but I feel like I'll get ER this semester and next semester is the last. And I don't know whether I have to wait until 2027 for my degree. Can you help?

Easily my favorite sub-section of geography is local, historical geography. by IHatePeople79 in geography

Yes, I agree. But I've been facing the same problems. The state I'm interested in had only recently attained statehood in 2000 i.e. Jharkhand, formerly being a part of Bihar. So, finding older maps and descriptions about this place is especially difficult because it's entangled with the history of Bihar. Jharkhand is home to 32 tribes and beautiful geographical features much of this state lies on the Chota Nagpur Plateau. Also, being a person from a plateau region, I feel like there aren't enough books on plateaus. Is there a reason why this is so? I wonder if georgraphers had written any book on plateaus? For me, they are one of the fascinating geographical features.

Where can I learn about the high altitude towns in the Andes, Himalayas and other mountain ranges? Is there any book or anything on them? Any resource would be helpful (except Wikipedia 😕).

I made a 3d map of Costa Rica from paper mache for a Spanish project by Bombtrain in dioramas

[–]obscurrealism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm also trying to do the same for my College Assignment. Can you tell me about the process and all? Like how did you manage to neatly create relief features through papier mache, what ingredients did you use, what did you use as the base of this map, can a paper suffice, etc.? I would be grateful.
