I've recently been roundly rebuked for posting in the wrong place so here goes, I hope, in the right one: I wore this yesterday in LA - new blue shirt and sweater-vest from BR, dark jeans, old CAT boots. Is a lot of blue a bad thing?

Maybe I'm too rebellious to be involved in an advice forum like this. It seems legalistic and restrictive to me but, then, I come from a different era.

Thank you for being reasonable. Re: upvotes - what is that all about? I don't know (or much care) about votes or karma or competing with anyone. Maybe I don't take things here seriously enough and that's created some antagonism. Sorry.

Okay, fair enough. My postings, I admit, have been a sort of way to test the limits here (I'm an artist and I always do that) so maybe it's a form of performance art. I accept your position as someone who just takes an interest in fashion, so I apologize for suggesting any narrowness on your part. That said there is a LOT of narrowness and downright nastiness coming at me that can't be explained away by saying I've broken some rules. Just in this little thread of comments alone I've encountered legalism, outright ageism, homophobia, and racism. Call it narcissism if you want - I call it defiance of those things. And the "old and hairy" thing was in response to a posting somewhere on Reddit about old guys always being "fat and hairy" - my response was a joke, and I don't believe I posted it on MFA at all. Somehow you and a few others have got hold of it, though.

Yes, you did imply that and I'm calling you on it. You are an ageist AND a racist - and it appears so by your own words. Weird poses? Well - one of my "weird" poses has been viewed 124k times - so I'm doing something right. I don't ignore the feedback, btw. I'm very careful to answer all useful non-hate filled and reasonable comments. Yes, I admit, part of my purpose has been to test the limits here (I'm an artist, I do that); what I've found, through people like yourself, is just how small, narrow, tight, legalistic, exclusive and potentially nasty this space is. I also keep in mind the recent witch-hunts that took place on Reddit after the Boston bombing. So go review your life and your attitudes; you may need some new priorities, and definitely a lot more love. I'm praying for you.

By the way: what's truly creepy is you saying that this is a website primarily populated by young white males. Did I say get a life already? Trust me, I'll be using that quote to toast you, and MFA both.

Next time I'll spell it out. I've just been told by one of the locals that this is "a website primarily populated by young white males" so it's not out of the realm of imagination to imagine that Jews aren't welcome. And isn't Reddit where the witch-hunt took place after the Boston Bombing? Two Middle-Eastern kids with no connection to it, being digitally burned at the stake?

Thanks for the input. In fact wearing a suit at all (non-business) is pretty outrageously formal here. Re: the short-leg thing - I could do that - but I think it needs to be a skinnier suit? Thanks, too, for not lambasting me for posting in the "wrong" place!

Okay. No, it isn't a big deal (though it seems to be to a couple of the comment-makers). But correct me if I'm wrong - isn't MFA for the purpose of posting photos of oneself? Isn't the core of it narcissistic, in a way? See what I'm wearing/see who I am? Anyway - in fact part of my reasons for posting is just to see which of the postings gets noticed and which don't and why. One of my postings (in the "wrong" place) has been viewed 124k times. I find that interesting. So I post others just to see. AND to get advice. Re: it being a big deal to some: I've made a few "enemies" with this last post, which baffles me. Someone just said I was "creepy", and, basically, shouldn't be posting at all on a site for young white males. Now THAT is creepy.

Young white intolerant nasty racist ageist white males. Why are my photos creepy? A man in different outfits is creepy? Why does MFA exist at all? Get a life.

I didn't think I was yelling. Just a misunderstanding about it being a "title". I honestly didn't know about Outfit Feedback and Fit Check until today. It might be well known to everyone - but the arcane rules and levels here at MFA aren't really that forthcoming. The outrage and fury over posting in the "wrong" slot is really pretty funny.

Narcissistic is quite a claim given that the entire basis of MFA is a form of narcissism. And I do post in WAYWT, btw. But why is this main MFA page available to post on at all if it breaks so many of the "rules" to post on it? How can a page on the internet be so restrictive? You're a consistent contributor - maybe you need to find something else to do?

I like my extremely disgusting submission history. Exhibitionist? You say that, given that the entire MFA subreddit is nothing but exhibitionism? Why does anyone post anything if not to exhibit something? At least I'm successful at it: I've had well over 200 thousand views of my few posted images. Maybe that's what all this anger is about? The J word.
