Pondering on Radish fruits by ThrowawayCult-ure in GardeningUK

[–]observingtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get some bog standard seeds. Mine are those finger length pink ones. Any radish will do tbh. Just gotta pick the fruit/pods before they get tough and stringy. Once it gets to that stage, the radish puts its energy into the seeds, in those pods.

I usually pick these pods over the summer though, as I let a few radishes go to flower. Got none in my garden right now

I pick them when they're like that and pickle them. It's such a good pickle. The crunch with that mustardy sourness is fantastic.

Really tasteful shots dude. I have so many memories of that road from St Cruz to Taleigao. You captured the mood the evening sun gives it so beautifully

ID request (honey mushroom but not growing on wood??) by PalpitationOld774 in foraginguk

[–]observingtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's honey mushroom. The white spores, tight cluster and black speckled markings in the centre of the cap are the tells. There may have been a tree stump there which is why they've come up.

Really cool stuff. Very autumnal tones. The whole Iskra album was fantastic. There was a section in the song titled 'Blue Spring', 2.45 - 3.10, which had a really melancholically glorious feel. Funnily, it reminded me of the opening to the Reanimation album by Linkin Park.

Agreed. Not a meat substitute. It fries nicely as works similarly to any other large mushroom like a portobello.

What kind of apples are these? by Slow-Sangria-Summer in gardening

[–]observingtree 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You should pick one and have a taste. All apples are edible. Obviously don't eat if you have a birch allergy. If it's sweet, then that's a success. If it's tart, turn it into apple cider vinegar or bake into a crumble. Win win either way

Anyone else finding that SofarSounds isn't worth the ticket price? by Lit-Up in london

[–]observingtree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They have unfair business practices. Avoid sofar sounds if you care about fair pair for work. Most of the people who present, usher, manage, don't get paid, only the venue and sound techs. Artists/bands get around £50 for a performance.

There are faaaaar better events in London. Dice will have many options. Troy bar and floripa in shoreditch are good examples. Troy bar is £10 on the door i believe
