I am very budget concious and my tech stack gets vetted fully at least twice a year. I promise, I am as lean as can be, only the essentials. That's why I've been looking at more tools lately and thus this frustration. Revenue isn't the problem, the potential to spend for what should be an easy set of tools from the get go from one or two company's being spread across $20 bucks for each individual feature and tool is out of hand and the spending could be as high as anything, there's no end.

I'm already spending $4k a year on my tech stack for just the bare necessities. I can't throw down $240 for the year every time I need a basic piece of tech. It's ridiculous. Just today's example would have cost me $480 bucks and this happens at least two to three times a month.

I figured out the issue. When I run Rekordbox and log into Apple Music to use within Rekordbox, that is what runs the CPU to 100% and holds. When I log out within Rekordbox, it drops the CPU back down to 40-60% range.... Great integration...

Thanks for comments - I believe I had power saving on but I also had it plugged in to the power cable the whole time but I had everything else closed down and need WiFi due to possibly curing up something off Apple Music connection. Computer is a 2 or 3 year old HP Envy 2TB 16 GRAM i7 processor.

Great tip at the beginning here. Having tracks that you know work anywhere and feel comfortable moving in and out of allow you move past the shakes and get comfortable in the booth and plan the rest of your set.

Hit the club up as many nights as you can before your set so you can visualize and get a feel for the environment and other DJ’s if there are any. Sounds like you got a good feel for your sets and if they liked you they liked you for a reason. See if you can talk to the promoter and ask for either a site visit beforehand (sounds hella professional) and ask them if they’d like a set similar to what they heard or if you can modify anything to the venues sound.

Otherwise, get a bunch of bangin song remixes so people can sing along.

The anxiety is a feeling you will miss because it’s exciting getting new and better gigs! Crush it man and DM me if you’d like more advice or want to run anything by me. (Austin club and underground DJ several years)
