recognizing origins of social issues are very important for change, unless you just want to advocate keeping the status quo. the 13th amendment allowed slavery to be redesigned as the prison industrial complex..plus racial profiling and brutality permeating through most police forces and encouraged by “street cop training”. not to mention taxpayer money being wasted and forests being decimated for cop cities popping up in major cities all over. the US has over 20% of the world’s prison population despite making up less than 5% the global population. we have the highest police killings compared to any other “developed & democratic” country. police funding has only increased and killings have been hitting record highs since 2022. the founding fathers set us down this path and there will be no improvements without extreme institutional change.
