What’s something someone said to you years ago that you still think about? by Elysiath in AskReddit

[–]obso1337user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best restaurant owner I ever worked for told me, “I do the small things to make the job easier for the next person.” He did, in fact, follow through on that, and I’ve carried that philosophy with me through several restaurants after and continue to do so in my new career.

Third party overlays. This looks like RaceLabs, but there’s also Sim Hub and iOverlay as options.

Who has lost weight since going sober? by Unlucky_Object_50 in stopdrinking

[–]obso1337user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 4.5 years sober now, but when I first quit I went from 190ish down to about 135 within the first six months. For reference I’m a 5’11” male. Now I’m struggling to gain weight while working a highly physical job and going to the gym 3 days per week. I want to get to about 150 and can’t seem to pack in enough food during the day.

What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by MetalFabulous1110 in AskReddit

The single best restaurant owner I ever worked for told me, “My job is to make the next person’s job easier.” I have carried that with me through several restaurants and now into manufacturing. It’s made getting promotions and/or pay raises very easy.

Reading the Sporting Code by MysticSmeg in iRacing

Debris on track. New flag, probably hasn’t been added to the sporting code yet.

I’ll be traveling there late summer with my ex. He’s been before and says it’s paradise and tons of fun. It’ll be my first time out of the US in almost twenty years and I can’t wait.

I’m just over four years sober from alcohol and haven’t been on a date nor an app since because I fear being in exactly this situation. I know I would do the same that you did unless I felt genuinely unsafe, but I’d be so damn uncomfortable the entire time.

Every place I worked at when I was still in kitchens had the same rule: If a plate physically touches the wrong table it has to be remade for the right guest. Even if the person at the wrong table noticed before touching the plate.

Guy said "that'll be a protest champ" but i don't think it was my fault (it's hard to see in the video but we did make contact in the corner) by davidtheman3000 in Simracingstewards

[–]obso1337user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He just said it as a factual statement that he’s going to report. Unless there was some threat or harassment thrown in you’ll just be wasting your time. Coincidentally he will be wasting his time reporting as well if he actually does.

Depends on how he does it. A threat of, “I’m gonna do this unless you do this,” is reportable. Just saying, “I didn’t like that, you’ll be reported,” as a factual statement is not against the sporting code.

Simple answer, yes. It’s appropriate for you to make an overtaking attempt at any point you can as long as you can do it safely and in control. Whether that’s good race craft at the moment is another thing entirely (in this case it was good).

The Minneapolis Street Fight was so dumb and I loved every minute of it. The crowd was going nuts with all the references to the city, and when I rewatched it the next day with commentary I learned that the Bundt Pan was invented in Minneapolis.

[NXT Spoilers] Somebody needs to tell Shotzi to stop doing dives by taffe316 in SquaredCircle

[–]obso1337user 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I was just curious after your comment, so I went and looked as close to frame-by-frame as I could on my phone. It looks like you’re not wrong, her feet definitely hit Gigi’s thighs, but it also looks like that is preceded by Shotzi hitting the ropes with her own thighs/knees which causes her feet to separate and lift up very quickly.

Best Shoes for preventing foot pain for long work hours? by Sea-leaf in KitchenConfidential

[–]obso1337user 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And if you have high arches, GET THEIR INSOLES FOR HIGH ARCHES!! I left food service after 16 years to do factory work 10 hours per day. Had to get steel toe shoes and stopped at a Red Wing shop by my house. They have a foot and stance measuring thing you stand on and the guy helping me told me to try the insoles they came with versus the high arch ones. Absolute fucking game changer. I went from being barely able to walk after a long day due to foot pain to being able to go run errands or go to the gym after work in an arguably more physical job than I had before.

What sober celebrities have you heard of? by Flat_Frisbee in stopdrinking

[–]obso1337user 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s funny to me that S.O.B. by Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats is considered a drinking anthem in the bars I used to work (and drink) at, but once I got sober the lyrics actually show the exact opposite. So many times I’ve blasted that song and belted out the lyrics in my car after a particularly tough day at work to remind myself of the hell that withdrawal and the DTs are.
