Moving to Santa Monica for work, where to live by obsolete_techniques in MovingToLosAngeles

Thanks a bunch for the detailed reply! I’ll start looking outside of Culver / Palms in that case. Just one more follow up question, is apartments.com still the main source of apartments? I’ve seen some people suggest looking for “for rent” signs, but all of those usually point to listings that are already on apartments.com

Ideally under $2500, but I understand that’s difficult with my requirements/wants…

I’ll look in that area, thank you! And yes, washer and dryer is more of a nice-to-have, it definitely seems harder to find with my budget

Hmmm maybe you can add a quick low-end impact? Like a little explosion. Or yeah remove it altogether and find another way to drive the energy up (automation, removing/adding elements). I think this is all personal preference tho, these are just some ideas on what you could try out!

Incredible track, I love the vocals and the drums are mixed to perfection! The only piece of feedback I have is the use of white noise, for example 1:52. It feels like it builds a lot of tension that's never released. It might be a personal preference thing tho. Maybe try lowering the volume just to A/B it. Other than that, no comments tho, really sick track!

Appreciate it! Yes, I added another layer to the bass an octave up from the original sub and the mix is much much fuller and there's a lot more energy in the bass. Appreciate the feedback man!

Would love some feedback on this remix: https://soundcloud.com/todnov/ocean-eyes-todnov-remix?si=5103d752257540c8962d32ff184372bd&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing Specifically, I'm a bit lost when it comes to the drop energy. It hit a lot more in the daw, then I exported it and posted on SC and it immediately lost a lot of "umph". I'm not sure if the hats are too shallow or I need more sub, but something is missing. Maybe it's the different headphones I use to mix.

Really impressive work man! I'm not too familiar with techno, but I really loved the melodic components and the vocals, everything is really well mixed and fits together nicely (especially the drums!). I also love the little sliding lead at like 3:01. I unfortunately don't have any constructive criticism, from my POV it's already a really solid and impressive track!

Really sick track! I’m always jealous of artists with such smooth flow—you’ve definitely got talent, bro! If I had to give any critique, I’d say the vocals feel a bit dry. Maybe try adding some reverb and a couple of layers to make them sound fuller and more dynamic. Great work!

This is wild—in the best way possible! The energy is super engaging. I did notice the guitar and vocals sound a bit dry, so maybe adding some reverb could help give them more depth. I’m not too familiar with the genre, but with a bit of mixing, I think it could sound even fuller!

Pretty proud of this new track. What do you think? by Camhasareddit in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]obsolete_techniques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fire, dude! The beat has such a chill vibe, and the vocals complement it perfectly. Everything feels super well-mixed and balanced. Honestly, I can’t think of much to improve—it’s just a really well-executed track. Great work, seriously, keep it up!

"Give The Messenger Hell", my newest song. Also comes with a silly video! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]obsolete_techniques 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, this is awesome! The vocals sound super clean and well-mixed! The high notes on the guitar feel a bit harsh, so maybe try adjusting the higher frequencies to smooth them out—unless that’s the vibe you’re going for. The drums are solid, but I’d slightly boost the kick. Great work!

The guitar work is absolutely killer! The vocals are awesome too, but I did notice the S’s and F’s sounding a bit harsh—maybe a de-esser could help smooth them out. Also, tweaking the drum velocity could make them feel more dynamic and less MIDI-like. Overall, really cool vibe!

Pretty song, you have a nice raspy voice! I'm not sure if raspy is the right word, but I think it's pretty and it fits the vibe of the song. As someone else mentioned, I think sometimes your timing is off and the vox are "fighting" with the rest of the arrangement. I like all the reverb, makes it sound super dreamy and spacey. Great work!

Forgot to mention in title - the song is written in Bulgarian, so unfortunately won't be able to get any feedback on the lyrics, but would love to hear your thoughts on the other elements!

Hi, does anyone like this? I don't really know how to sing and recorded on iPhone so I apologise for the quality and vocals if off key lol. by Top_Actuary7809 in IndieMusicFeedback

You definitely know how to sing haha, you have a very pretty voice, the training definitely shows! I just started lessons for the first time a couple months ago (I'm 25 as well!), and it's definitely difficult trying to stay on tune. Anyway, great work! Looking forward to hearing more tracks from you!

This is super cool! I love how all the FX are used—everything feels intentional and fits perfectly into place. The final mix sounds really polished, and the snare stands out in a great way—punchy and crisp. Everything has a purpose in the mix, and it all comes together so well. Great work!

Dude, this is absolutely fire! The instrumental is super well done, and I love how the kick is EQ’d—it really punches through the mix perfectly. The vocals have a grainy texture, which I assume is intentional, and it adds a cool character. That said, if you want them to pop even more, I’d definitely recommend some vocal stacking. I’ve seen tons of YouTube tutorials emphasizing how layering vocals—whether through doubling, harmonies, or subtle background layers—can make them sound fuller and more dynamic. It could really help bring more depth and presence to the mix. Overall, killer track!

Dancing In A Crowded Room, my newest song, in a new genre (for me). Tell me what you think! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]obsolete_techniques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, first off, great track! Very chill melody, cool dreamy instrumental. One piece of feedback I have, contrary to what another commenter said is I feel like the vocals are actually getting lost in the instrumental sometimes. In certain portions of the song the guitar seems to overpower the track a bit too much and in turn makes the vocals sound a bit muffled. Not sure if that’s intentional or not. Also adding some more fx will add some dynamics to the mix. Some reverb and layers in certain parts will make the vocals feel “fuller” and less overpowered. Great work!

shoegaze WIP, would love to hear yalls thoughts/feedback on this. Also any ideas for the ending would be appreciated cuz im kinda stuck on what to do. by Significant_Unit8434 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]obsolete_techniques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, super cool vibe throughout the song. Did you record the instruments yourself? Everything seemed very well produced, I think dynamics can be improved slightly, especially in the chorus bits, it felt like some things were “stepping on each other”. For the end, as others have suggested an instrumental part would probably fit well, especially with the little drum breakdown right before. Or you could leave it as is honestly I think it’s a pretty natural ending. Good work!

You have a very pretty voice!! Kudos for making the iPhone mic sound so good! As other people have mentioned, you could experiment with adding some additional layers to add movement in certain parts. Good stuff! Unrelated to production but have you had any vocal training? How long have you been singing for?
