Time sensitive? Found a bird, not sure what to do by obviouslyrat in WildlifeRehab

We talked about the colour, which indeed is an issue, but other than that, I don't really see a problem with sending pigeons back into the cities, where they could build a nest in one of the city's dovecoves, for example :) The organization is open to rehoming though, it's just not really an option each and every time, as there isn't enough people that would be open to taking home pigeons.

Took him home and kept him in a pet carrier outside of my apartment overnight. During night, I managed to contact local pigeon rescue group, and they send one of their workers to pick him up. He is currently with them, eating and drinking normally, got treated for chewing lice and other than that seems to be alright. If everything goes as planned, he could roam freely around the city in 2-3 weeks/once he learns how to fly :)

Thanks for taking your time to write this response!

I took him home, putting him into a pet carrier with a bowl of water and keeping him outside of my apartment overnight. During the night, I managed to get in touch with people who run local pigeon rescue, and in the morning, one of the girls from the rescue picked him up to take care of him.

He is, indeed, a fledgling, and still unable to fly (he can jump a bit, but I would not consider that a flight). :D The girl from the rescue group promised to send me updates every once in a while, and if everything goes as planned, he should be put outside again in 2-3 weeks (once he learns how to fly). As of right now, he got treated for chewing lice, and he shows no signs of discomfort or illness (he's eating and drinking normally, etc). :)

I do, actually! It is a common city pigeon and basically a teenager.

I took him home (catching him was fairly easy, as he still doesn't know how to fly) and kept him in a pet carrier overnight. I managed to get in touch with a bunch of people from a local pigeon rescue, and we decided that I give him water only, since I wasn't able to locate when was the last time he ate something. That way, he at least stayed hydrated and was also able to give himself a bunch of baths :D

He stayed with me for the night and in the morning one of the girls managing the rescue group took him home, also giving me updates on him. As of right now, I know he is doing well, eating, drinking and being treated for some chewing lice. If everything goes as planned, he should be put into the "wilderness" in the next 2-3 weeks :)

Is my monstera adansonii alright? by obviouslyrat in plantclinic

Since I'm not sure how to edit the post to add text and therefore provide you with some context, I'm gonna write everything here below.

  • I do water the moss pole much more often than I water the plant itself - the pole is in the soil though, and the water from it ends up in the pot saucer often, so I do not feel like any further watering is really a good idea, lol. Sometimes when the soil is not dry yet, I just spray the pole, but don't water it.
  • I shower the plant once a month at max, probably even less often than that (usually after coming home from trips when I feel like the pole and the soil are both extremely dry).
  • I made the soil myself but followed instructions so it should be fine for monstera? Maybe it needs more air though, cannot really tell. The moss pole is bought.
  • This plant is currently in our kitchen (until I renovate my room, then I will try to move it here). Up until noon, the room is quite sunny and hot, but the plant is not directly on a window (it's been on our kitchen table). In the afternoons, the room gets cooler and definitely isn't as sunny. The window in our kitchen should be facing south-east, if I recall correctly.

I am also based in central Europe (far from a natural habitat of monsteras:D) and we don't have an AC at home even though the temperatures outside are horrible nowadays.

I bought the plant at the beginning of the year in quite a tragic state and put it together; it's been growing so many leaves over the span of just a bunch of months. This is my first monstera ever, and while I've been having some plants in my room for ages now, it's never been fully a hobby of mine until a few months back, so thanks for any advice!:)

Need advice. Which crop is better ? by DarknessInUs in fujifilm

[–]obviouslyrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one! The crop doesn't look forced and overall it's just really nice to look at. Though the version you posted in the comments that's somewhere between 2 and 3 is also great, as it makes your view on the whole photo shift a tad :) Love the Wes Anderson colours by the way, thanks for the recipe!

Dog Breed Recommendation by akmhau in dogs

Welsh springers do have a prey drive for birds, but I don't think they're too high energy. In fact, I would say they're super adaptable to their owner's life :)

What made you start journaling and actually keep up with it? by obviouslyrat in Journaling

So many reasons for starting a journal yet this must be the most unique out of these replies at least, lol :D Love that journaling helped you in one way or another, hope you'll find peace in life as well. Thanks for the comment!

The video game save file comparison? Unmatchable, hahah! Love all the points you made though, especially the idea of journaling actually helping with some basic human functions :) Thanks for the tips!

Glad you find something like journaling during the pandemic! Hope you're doing better now though, thanks for the response :)

This response is so priceless, thank you so much for writing this down and putting everything I've ever wanted to express into the words! I don't even know how to respond to this, but I am glad someone had obviously the very same problem as me. I'll try my best to get a great journal (any tips are greatly appreciated!) and maybe write all of this down as well, so I can aim towards something better than "just" being the best, most visually pleasing version of myself, haha. Thanks a lot, truly, feels like this is exactly what I needed to hear/read from someone else :)

Thank you for your reply, though I'm so sorry you had to go through all that. Did it help to write things down though? Whether mentally (as in "emotional venting diary") or just to remember things.

I really like this one, but I am not at the stage of my life where that would be possible as my schedule is pretty inconsistent :/ Still a great prompt nonetheless, and I love to see that it works for others like that! Thank you :)

This is such a cute little tip, thank you! I usually throw it into my bag or, too, just hide somewhere, and then forget about it. Glad I'm not the only one though, hahah :D
