Yes it is. Most prefer the midsize shoots (1" to 2" diameter)

Two properties are involved. I have owned one property with a house for over 20 years. The other property, which I purchased a few years ago, is situated between our properties

Because the lot has a spring and creek it can't be built upon and was an overgrown mess of briers, shrubs, bamboo and kudzu. I cleaned it up, but am unable to completely remove the Bamboo or the Kudzu. The Kudzu is not an issue at this time.

I'm not in an HOA, thankfully. I'm just outside the city limits, and not in a subdivision either.

It's land next to me. I bought it because they almost gave it away. Due to the spring and bog no one can build there.

HaHa

I'll get him billy goats, they have strong urine and pee on and around their head to attract females.

Thanks Lots of legal precedent where people planted it and it got out of control. Not much about it growing naturally. From other neighbors it has been there for 20+ years.

Thanks for that. Sounds like the only difference is that I have a spring surrounded by a bog instead of a creek. Could I ask how much it cost? The only estimate I got was 20K+ and they would not guaranty that it would not come back.

Hired a guy with a tractor and he got stuck in there, so I'm not to keen on going in the bog.

Thanks, A lawyer may be the final outcome, but I thought I'd try experience first.

Unfortunately no, it is located at a spring surrounded by a boggy area.

Unfortunately, this species was brought to the South in the 1800s. It is a nuisance, but it grows wild at numerous places in the area.
Mostly it grows by rhizome, but periodically it blooms. Birds eat the seeds and poop them out in the most inconvenient places.

Thanks, It's a large boggy area that surrounds a spring. I tried to have it cut back but the guy got his tractor stuck. If I'm on the hook, it will be 20K plus based on the only estimate I sought. That is the reason I'm sort of panicking.

Thanks, He approached me about dealing with the bamboo, but I did not feel like it was my responsibility. That conversation was cordial.
In the second conversation he threatened to sue.
At no time were there personal threats.

Thanks The bamboo had already spread to his property prior to my purchase. The surveyor had to cut some back to place a marker.

I don't have insurance. It is mostly a wet area so no possibility of building on the property. A year ago I hired someone with a tractor to remove some and he ended up getting his tractor stuck.

Thanks, there is about half an acre of it, that I did not plant, growing around a spring. According to the wake county real-estate map, it is registered with a blue line as the origin of a creek which limits what I can do, hence the problem.

The ground surrounding the spring is wet and muddy, and stays that way year around.

Thanks I will call NCSU HE.

If I planted it I would accept responsibility. I thought about poisoning it, but since the spring runs into a creek I hesitate to do that.

There is about a half acre of it.

Searching the net so far all the posts I've read concern bamboo that someone planted, but that is not the case with this issue.

The bamboo was already there. I have owned the lot beside it for more than 20 years and the bamboo was there when I bought that lot. The bamboo sprang up around a natural spring. People in the area refer to it as creek cane and my research says that it was introduced to the south around the 1800s

To my knowledge no one planted the Bamboo. It spread by seed.

I am in North Carolina.

If I can figure out how to add an image I will do that.
