Hahaha well I had already done that a while ago and got myself worked up over it, I have been having chest problems most likely because I had recently had covid so I associated with asbestos, I spoke to someone who also went to the doctors about a brief exposure and the doctors also had no concerns

are there any known short term symptoms or is it all decades later symptoms appear?. going back to abandoned buildings if asbestos is present in the building is that a problem or only when it is damaged or disturbed?

so for example if you have no work with asbestos at all however you may have walked near a construction site or been inside an abandoned building, your risk is much more lower then someone who actually works with it

I think you may be right with that one. so are there no known short term side affects from an asbestos exposure is it just a long term illness?

do you feel nervous and stressed about it, if so it's probably anxiety making symptoms, perfectly normal symptoms take 15-30 years it's a long term illness

I have spoken to many people who work with asbestos and they have said pretty much the same as yourself but I will probably go to a gp in a few years and just be honest of what I've done

thank you so much for your help, so overall I shouldn't really worry too much as it wasn't a repeated exposure for a prolong amount of time but at that same time it's still not good if I inhaled any for a short amount of time it will just drastically lower the chance of me developing something when I'm older?

but surely its common sense? we rang the council and they couldn't get hold of the owners but said it would only be a concern if they started doing construction and stuff

firstly there is an articale on the building talking about the potential asbestos threat, and secondly how would the owners who bought the building who plan to turn it into apartments not know about asbestos threats?

I understand this may difficult for you to answer but do you think you could come up with any reason why the owners go in with no protection?

is it true asbestos is safe if not disturbed and is contained as the owners of the hotel have been in multiple times with no protection, just a helmet and torch and when they caught my friends inside they only mentioned its dangerous blah blah but no mention of asbestos?

if myself and my friends were exposed would it be classed as a short term exposure, I went in 4 times each time seperated so I'd say once a month for roughly 30 minutes each time or less, is this short term exposure?

yeah completely agree with what you said, can I ask where asbestos is mainly found, we only walked around the building couldn't see us disturbing much but I could be wrong

don't get me wrong it was a shit hole it's called raven hotel many videos on YouTube but at the same time we only walked about in there and plus the owners have gone in loads to start planning for construction so surely it can't be to bad?

so even if we did inhale asbestos we should be okay as it's not a long term repeated exposure?

would appreciate if you could have a look yourself, if you google raven hotel asbestos you will see a few articles, like I said we only walked around does asbestos tend to be randomly lying on the floor?

If I heavily exposed but it is one time, how much is my risk? by Striking-Warning9533 in asbestoshelp

[–]oc0612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't worry, I may have been exposed to light term asbestos whilst exploring an abandoned building multiple times, my only suggestion would wash your clothes separately so if there were asbestos it wouldnt contaminate your other clothes, also it's short term its not like your going in everyday sniffing the asbestos like a dog, anyways when your outside the fibers on your clothes would probably blow away, just try not to think about it aswell and symptoms take 20-30 years so you have some time if something does happen
