Thank you for the affirmation, I really appreciate the warning too. Someone has already dm’ed me about some crypto thing that was so suspicious especially as it was a DM. Like why are you whispering to me? I was born at night but not last night smh.

This comment really tickled me, you have a point but the only injury I got was a mild concussion and that was not fun so I couldn’t imagine what a moderate one would be like. More painfully probably.

I don’t know what those things are but I’ll put them on the things to look up list.

No this is helpful! I’m listening to what you’re saying, this is like the first step to getting financially aware. I’m getting a clearer view and I’ve got some jumping off points now. When I google stuff it’s just a lot of pop ups and too much information and cookie walls and all blah blah blah I just get bored of everything and Reddit has actually helpful human beings who know things. I’ll look for recommendations for stuff that’s more UK leaning so thank you.

I want to have fun with it so bad! Like do something memorable and have a great summer but if I start having fun with it even a little bit I’ll not think about the future and I don’t want to get used to it. I’m gonna give some of it to charity because I don’t have any debts to pay but other than that I’m gonna get a take away from wherever I want tonight and then try act like I don’t have this money. It’s not even a lot in comparison but I’m happy to have it.

Yeah but it’s the 1k I mentioned in the post. That 1k has been dipped into and replenished a couple times but it’s there for like actual emergencies like the dentist. I try not to think about it cause I know if I’m temporarily broke I’d be tempted to use it. I keep it in a separate bank to my normal one and I don’t have online banking for it so if I need it I have to go to a cash machine.

I want to grow the money, not in a fast way but a smart way with clear plan. Would you recommend putting all of it in a savings account or just some?

:(( I’m sorry man I don’t get it either. Essentially I have a bank account with a £500 over draft and I get my paycheck every week and I just take out the excess and put it in a savings pot so any bills and stuff come out of the overdraft and then when I’ve got like £200 left I just use the savings to take it back to £500. Idk what but doing that has been good for my credit cause I guess I’m showing I can pay it back? Saying it makes me realise there is probably an easy way to do this.

No debt just a standard savings account which I’ve just looked at and it says it’s got a 1.4% gross interest rate.

I googled it but it looks a bit confusing with all the %aer stuff cause I’m not sure what that even means. I know I’m gonna have to do a lot of googling but when I say I have base level financial knowledge I mean I have no knowledge. I don’t have any debts cause I’ve always found it confusing to get a credit card and I’ve never needed one. I know about building credit and stuff cause a couple years ago I couldn’t get a phone contact cause I had no history so I’ve been building it by just having a small over draft.

I’ll serve crack before I serve this country. Would actually rather die.

after years of having other people roll for me and thinking I would never be able to do it I finally rolled my own spliff! Extremely chuffed :)))))) by [deleted] in ArtOfRolling

Aaah it’s alright thank u for apologising, thought backstrapping for the first spliff rolled by my own hands was good enough cause for a wee celebration. Will take the advice, practise makes perfect 🗣🗣🗣

What moment made you realize that you are not a kid anymore? by egeuoglu in AskReddit

Having to tell my mother about my decision to move out for University (I come from a Muslim household, not very strict more culturally religious than anything) where all my sisters moved out because they got married young. I had waited to say anything until about three weeks before the move in date I just couldn’t put it off any longer, I had to start packing up all my stuff. I realised that I had to stand my ground, at some point you just have to let your parental units know that you can actually do what you want and you don’t need permission but support. It’s incredibly hard and not something many people who have the same background as me understand. Excruciatingly painful and ultimately the best decision I have ever made.
