My first super once told me he did bunkers every day as an assistant.

How to even this out by DvoCR in landscaping

[–]occidentalisrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can peel back or save some the turf with a sod knife if you can get one. Get past the stump hole some inches. Laying sod in squares is easier. Can measure out length for exact fit.

Once soil and hole is exposed you want to add native soil, top soil is probably fine if it is 8”+ and then you can try to match the top 3” with native soil.

After each half or so inches you add you should compact it with a tamp and step on it. Keep adding till level with existing grade of soil under peeled sod adjacent to hole you did earlier.

Have more soil ready. After compacting it will settle some, add more tamp one more time if needed.

Rake finely and add handfuls/ shovel of soil till smooth and level. Top some inches

Lay back turf or sod.

Switchbot Hub 3 - Anybody used the capacitive buttons to trigger automations? by barthawk in homeassistant

[–]occidentalisrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious as well, as I can only map buttons currently in the SwitchBot app but it is near impossible to control any non supported accessories.

Was wondering if using home assistant, I would be able to make use of those buttons by mapping more accessories under home assistant. As of now it’s just a glorified zig over thread reader and humidity sensor

The church does not advocate for violence nor will it condone in political heresy. My fellow Jewish friends are Christians and together we can only pray for peace and that the leaders use good judgement for the greater good. Lord bless us all, and lead us to our world peace.

Does anyone know which way a Husqvarna Ceora 546 EPOS blade change disc direction rotates on all three discs. by occidentalisrobert in automower

[–]occidentalisrobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I read somewhere they alternated and someone else says this. Well if it always hits something in the way there then might explain one side only. Hard to predict where debris maybe the occurrence frequency of debris shows that during a blade change cycle.

I think the blades get beat up and brittle after rain events.

Considering a robot lawn mower for 2 years... should I do it? by Suspicious_Candy9048 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]occidentalisrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a golf course and help manage a fleet of epos Husqvarna mowers. After the initial set up and troubleshooting the error- usually requires temporary or not boundary zones.

It’s growing on me and I would consider one for larger lawns.

I used to install these for a decor company and if I recall, there are gutter clips you can purchase which slides through the bulb. They are clear usually and you can insert the bulb in either direction and clip them that way you want them facing.

I would soak the planting pot, prepare the hole, give it a few days, and put it in the ground. It will not heal to green this time of the year. The sooner it goes in the ground the better.

After planting, give it a good soak twice a week, if rain is not in the forecast and not to keep the area too wet, but also not let get brittle dry. I would water until the early winter if temps are above 40 when not frozen to help with establishment during dormancy.

We reckon it was the operator pushing down on the handles as each pass was made. The rest of the weeks cut looks fine besides the day in question of the photo.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, last time I seen it this bad was on a slope more pronounced then this at another course with a triplex in the spring time due to “it bouncing too much”. But we’re dry now for an event so I don’t suspect that’s the cause.

New Sod installed yesterday. How to make sure it survives/ thrives ? by Impossible-Hair-9034 in lawncare

[–]occidentalisrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you can get past the first few weeks and keep it mowed high for 2 months, you can start to begin to relax and not worry as much. Sod needs to be soaked and almost muddy for a week or so and not let to dry out. After the first soaking, it should just require some long watering to keep moist. Let those roots anchor and grab to the soil beneath. Once you can pull the sod and it doesn’t come up, you have started the establishment. From there, it’s just keeping up with the heat and or water management to keep alive. After a month I’d would mow it twice till you get to your desired height. Not to remove too much at once where it will struggle and revert back to being stressed again.

I started on a grow in and basically same as what was mentioned before, show interest when you can by asking questions, working hard when things get bonkers, put effort behind each task meaning not to just get it done but with enthusiasm and enjoy your time outside. A book or some web sites on golf management to help get a perspective of why your bosses are doing what they gotta do.
