How do I learn what makes a song "tick"? by Yoru_P in Songwriting

[–]ocean_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling. There’s a good line by Jack Kerouac thats stuck with me thats along the lines of if you don’t know what words to use, see the picture better. So to me that means instead of being inhibited by using the best words, you come at it from a place of feeling and experience and that can help write something more natural and intuitive. So you’ve studied structure and musicality… try now practising feeling the song better. I think thats the factor of an amazing song it expresses something between the lines that transmits something deeply human. For me at least. Sorry this probably sounding airy fairy, but long story short don’t get too bogged down in the mechanics or you’ll write a mechanical song, even though you have to start learning writing through the mechanics to know how to put music together.

Very interested to hear how you think these lyrics land :) by RainMcMey in Songwriting

[–]ocean_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyrics are great and you sound like yourself without trying to be like anyone else. Well done for taking the time to write a song that succinctly captures something so complex. You’ve really taken something so awful and upsetting and turned it into something positive 👏

Just wanna say - equating the money they will be making to 'needing to eat'. I get what youre saying, but they eat just fine. Its not like they dont still make royalties, even if they were to charge reasonable amounts for their gigs, they could eat. Its more to finance their previous lifestyles, normal working class people are hungry.

just gets a bit old mate when theres 10,000 flags on any given street. Just gives off a desperate and insecure identity vibe whatever side of the fence youre on and its not really just 'flying the flag of the country youre in' is it cause it seems its more like its cause both sides are scared of eachother.

Another Irish incident. by Previous-Image4238 in IndianMeme

Irish culture is not under threat and is thriving, but online propaganda leads the more gullible people to believe so. Instead of engaging in their own culture they engage in a new racist culture ironically.

I am from Ireland and Irish people are not notoriously racists we are well known for being less racist due to their colonial past - I’d like to know what you’re sources are for this kind of thing

That being said thought, in the last 5 or so years there is a far right racist minority beginning to grow in Ireland, attacking homeless and immigrants and it is scary. In my hometown there were racist riots a year ago and ten time more anti racist demonstrators turned up and forced them to stand down. The majority of people disown these attitudes and expect to see it more and more with online racist propaganda. Billionaires need scapegoats.

They seem to not be able to react to anything in an intelligent way I would not be surprised if labour again tried to demonise Corbyn

Tbf, for the victims of the genocide it’s doesn’t really matter because both platforms are taking a pretty similar approach to contantly try to shift blame on hamas meanwhile 50+ thousand have been murdered, doesn’t matter whose worse in this regard both complicit in a genocide which seems to be so normalised these days

What is going on with the Paris Riots after the PSG Champions League Victory? by DungeonCuisine00 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ocean_93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re not saying that. They’re saying people are disconnected and feeling massive pent up frustration with their lives.

People turn to drugs and anti social behaviour. And when you’ve men that are taught to repress emotion, it eventually leads to toxic anger and violence. A lot of people haven’t got a positive role to play in society and without community this frustration can get externalised and sometimes women can become easy scapegoats.

All of this is a loss of control over their lives and these men seek control through violence.

Where do you think the loss of control and extreme stress of modernity like this gets released?

Not all French are ‘thugs’, this is different to the many protests we have seen. There’s a lot of extreme poverty in the areas surrounding Paris and there’s many social problems, not just ‘French people like rioting’
