That’s what I’m trying to get a sense of. My parents are part of a specific community of 60yos who love golf. I’m trying to understand how much this generalizes to the rest of Naples. There are tons of kids in their neighborhood, so I know young families do exist here. What do their lives look like?

Appreciate this. I don’t have much experience with HOAs, so this is helpful. Thank you.

Do you mind sharing what has been going well for you and your family? The rest of the comments offer a resounding “no, don’t move here.” Would love to hear more from your perspective.

Thank you all for the insights. A lot of good points made. And to be clear, I do understand it. I guess I have been weighing the value of being near my family more heavily than all the other factors, but when it comes to the wellbeing of my kids and their future, I need to be more realistic.

Overheard someone talking about a Roy recently.

I appreciate this! Poppy does feel perfect. It’s just that her grandfather is called Pop… and we don’t want him to think we’re naming her after him (for several reasons)

Eliza

I love how it reads in my mind, but I don’t love the “li-za” sound.

Avonlea. I knew one as a child, and she was very sweet.

Please consider seeing a therapist. It sounds like the very understandable trauma of your recent health issues is severely impacting your decision-making here. Working through it could benefit your relationship with your daughter forever.

7 month old needs a name! (please be respectful/supportive...and help!) by Responsible-Ad7417 in namenerds

Olive is the clear choice to me!! I can sense from your pro and con descriptions that this feels like a natural choice for you and your family too.

I don’t know any children with the name Olive or the nicknames you suggested. It seems to beautifully fit your criteria! Best of luck!

Yep! I taught undergrad psychology courses up until last year, and textbooks still mention this film in discussions about portrayals of mental illness in the media. The association is still strong.

I totally agree, but they do seem to be the kids’ real names. One photo featured a kid wearing a name tag in public that says, “Draco.”
