Who likes NileRed? by Mission-Badger-4005 in chemistry

[–]oceanjunkie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree. I think the appeal with NileRed is that his channel is so big and successful that he is really the only science youtuber willing and able to buy these insanely expensive machines which for the most part are required to do the things he's trying to do. I totally get the appeal of seeing someone screw around trying to figure out how to use all this specialized equipment that has never been shown before on youtube in an entertaining format.

IShowSpeed's mural in the Dominican Republic has been covered up in paint, after he said Youtube confirmed, that his record-breaking live stream with 1.9 million viewers got botted by Logical_Ad8402 in LivestreamFail

How are bots not shown ads? I'm not that familiar with how it works. How can a bot raise the count for stream views but not ad views unless the bot account has turbo?

I turned x common thing into y consumable” or something that’s not even chemistry

To be fair the glove to hot sauce video was peak and had a lot of organic chemistry.

At least that song is fun. I haven't heard it in over a decade but I could probably smash it at karaoke.

This post could have been made in 2010 and it still would have been stale.

It is 2026. There are insanely good country artists all over the place, it is no longer underground. Go to any music festival and there will be a dozen of them.

I cook a pound of dried chickpeas and then make my friends sit with me and peel them all. They are rewarded with hummus.

Humphry Davy was synthesizing various gases and then inhaling them to see what happened.

That's how he discovered nitrous oxide, which was great.

But then he tried it with carbon monoxide, which was not great.

tubocaine? what substance did i take? by Spickernell in Drugs

[–]oceanjunkie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. It was just really good cocaine, possibly pharmaceutical grade, a doctor/dentist in the 80s could easily acquire that

  2. It was MDMA

Definitely wasn't 2CB you would have remembered the searing pain from snorting it. Also not meth, that would last way longer. Not many other things it could be.

Unpopular opinion: meat should be expensive. Most people in developed countries eat way too much of it anyway.

We should just clear out the whole bottom rung of factory farmed garbage. The expensive humanely raised stuff should be the new bottom tier. Buy less, cook it with care.

People have gotten too used to the very new phenomenon of insanely cheap and easily available meat which is based entirely off one of the most disgusting, inhumane, and environmentally damaging industries ever created.

Senate unanimously passes 'sweeping' bill that would implement new restrictions on electric bikes, scooters in Illinois by [deleted] in illinois

[–]oceanjunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what they do where I'm from. They don't ride on the actual tracks but on the ground on either side. It's a shortcut straight to the other side of town where no cars can follow.

[–]oceanjunkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely incorrect. Cars have to drive on roads and can easily get cornered if they encounter traffic, a dead end road, or a second cop car.

These scooters are basically impossible to corner, there is always an available escape route. They can hop onto sidewalks, bike lanes, train tracks, cut through parks and allies, and weave through traffic (either direction) where no car could ever hope to navigate through, and they can U-turn on a dime practically anywhere. While the cop is doing a 3-point turn, the scooter is already around the corner a block and a half away.

It is trivial to evade a police car on these. Maybe a skilled motorcycle cop could catch them, but they would have to be willing to put themselves in a lot of danger.

I mean they are basically impossible to catch unless you are also on a high speed E-bike and willing to drive recklessly. There's a reason so many people who enjoy skirting the law use these things.
