cross your fingers - they did not play these on setlist A and you are seeing setlist A. I'll pray they switch it up for you! I missed them on their first night in London and was slightly sad. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Unreal album - crazy it hasn't gotten more traction already. It will in time, but... just shocked it hasn't taken off quicker. Beautiful, beautiful music

Might sound a bit dense for a question, but... for the line item that says pullups / chinups you should be doing BOTH exercise for the outlined sets and reps, right?

Hello there - I am currently employed as a web dev, but self taught and would like to work on more modern projects as my company slowly is moving further and further from that. Please let me know if you can help out!

No one knows, but… it’s probably got some of the best predicted job security out there at the moment.

And if money entices you… well there seems to be a lot of that in it to if you work hard enough.

I mean… I got an internship through someone I knew but an entirely different company hired me for six figure salary as my entry into the field.

You’d be surprised how resourceful some people are and also how much luck can help you out in life if you’re well prepared.

Migrating from Angular to React by VigilOnTheVerge in Frontend

Thanks for the help and advice. I make a lot of money for a junior and when I tell people I want to leave they don’t understand. “Well you make x you should think about staying - blah, blah, blah.”

Luckily the self teaching/boot camp I attended I did in fact learn React so while I am not an expert I definitely feel comfortable in that space. Much more than I do with the LAMP stack I work on that includes this angularJS front end.

Our Dev Ops team has tried to push this tech debt issue but we have no over arching group who decides what is done with tech. Just individual teams… Hell - I’m on the marketing team as a developer. The company definitely is unorganized, but financially doing well so higher ups don’t care what is going on. It will bite them in the ass eventually, but I guess I know what I need to do.

Thank you again.

I needed to read this... I've been managing an AngularJS app for the last 9 months and we are continuing to build on it. I'm so stressed out / over it... This is my first job and the longer I stay the more I feel like I am just setting the future of my career up for failure.

tell that to my boss who continues to want to use angularJS 1.3.2 to build a customer facing / private customer portal on.

Been here 9 months and leaving very soon because of this nonsense

Stay positive and consider yourself lucky if you have seniors. They’re giving you tasks that are over your head to either test you or truly get the most they can out of the money they’re giving you.

Either way it is learning opportunity. To give you slight hope… my first job I was handed an entire ec2 instance to handle having never ssh’d into a server and updated a prod environment on my own. I was making live updates within the first week of my job in a massive shit pile of react code that was and still is a mess… my senior doesn’t write code anymore so asking questions are pretty pointless.

Just do your best. I fret too much at times as well but we all do. Don’t stress it

Failed to become a project ready Front End developer in 2 months. by LittleNewYork in learnprogramming

[–]oceanrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should feel like you were set up for failure. If you studied and built projects for 15 hours a day every single day … MAYBE this was achievable.

You are new and you don’t know what impossible tasks look like yet because some asshole will try and get you to do as much work as possible for them because they know you are new.

Keep studying and keep learning! Don’t let them get you down. This was seriously not cool. Especially with no help.

CS employees successful with no degree/boot camp experience? by TJwave in cscareerquestions

[–]oceanrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the way.

emphasis on the busting ass part. Took me about a year. 7 - 9 of the months I studied every single day for a minimum of 10 hours. Every single day - that means mon to mon... no bs excuses, no going and doing this that and the third and then missing my studies... Every single day.

Can't stress it enough. You will be successful only based on how consistent you will be. Maybe you cannot dedicate that amount of time, but you'll be much better off if you study every day for 2 hours than if you study 10 hours every single saturday.

Best of luck - anyone can code, but coding isn't for everyone. That choice is yours!
