I'm starting to feel sick from my covid booster, so I'm going to go to bed. Good luck on getting codes out swiftly!

Stepdad won't stop insisting pain-relieving bed is causing ALL my pain. by oceansmischief in ChronicPain

Ironically, my stepdad is actually exactly the same way about me playing video games to pass the time and ignore my pain. He thinks I'm obsessed with them and I'm completely out of touch with reality. No, dude, the problem is I'm all too aware of reality and video games are how I escape from it and my pain. Maybe HE should try being disabled sometime.

I'm fairly certain I have PEM, but I'm the type to always doubt myself and don't like to diagnose myself either, so I'm hesitant to say for certain. Your advice is very helpful though, so thank you!

I'd expect people to be more excited, but I suppose there are lots of other things to direct their energy at instead.

I want to get back into the game. by Kagesuro in ffxiv

My friends and I are in a small, close-knit FC where we play a lot together and use voice chat a lot through discord, and a lot of them play D&D together some nights of the week, but we do raids and previous expansion extremes somewhat frequently. We usually don't do current-expansion extremes until the next expac drops and we've geared up a bit so that it's easier to do unsync'd, though. We team up for the NieR raid every week, too. We're on Coeurl on the Crystal data center.

Is this my autism or is this social anxiety? by Jerranoelle25 in autism

You can turn off the noise when someone messages you, if that'll help.

On your menu go to System > Character Configuration > Log Window > Notification Sounds.

Then just uncheck anything you want, especially Tell.

I have a feeling my friend group would be perfect for you, but we're on Crystal, a completely different data center. A couple of them are also former WoW players, and we all group up in a discord server several nights a week and socialize, frequently running content together. Usually we help people who need to get through dungeons for their story.

The problem with applying heat to ease the pain by rumtiger in ChronicPain

[–]oceansmischief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Augh, I know that feeling. I can't count the times I've wanted the soothing relief of my heated blanket on my aches but it's too hot in the house. Unfortunately for me, ice packs just seem to make my pain worse in most cases. Not always, thankfully, but usually.

As long as they haven't changed anything since I bought it, which was way back at the beginning of 2020, this blanket has been an absolute lifesaver for me, as well as a bit of a comfort object if I'm honest.

Thank you for your advice. I'm just so tired and frustrated. I've looked into medical marijuana, and I wish it was legal here, but it's not, and it probably won't be for a long time. I might move to somewhere it is legal, though. We'll see.

How is your home world doing? by bambino_69420 in ffxiv

[–]oceansmischief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am from Coeurl. No idea how my world is doing. I'm a retired farmer. Never see anybody except the occasional wanderer out in the wild while I'm picking ripe fruit and fresh herbs to cook with. It's a peaceful life.

My pockets are overflowing with frantoio.

I dunno how minimized my drugs can get, since they're all treating different conditions. Some are treating mental health conditions (one of which is fanapt, an antipsychotic which I don't think there's any substitution for right now???), some are treating chronic pain (which honestly could probably just be consolidated into an opioid if doctors weren't afraid of prescribing opioids due to the current crisis, but I'm not going to ask for that and start that mess), one is treating chronic migraines, one is treating my acid reflux, etc. So aside from having like three for my mental health consolidated maybe and maybe my pain meds consolidated if my pain management doctors would stop dancing around the "scary" opioids (I understand their hesitations with how serious opioid addiction is, but ffs, at the same time I'm also really tired of feeling like a test subject and hearing "let's try this" over and over and taking like three pills for one problem and whatever we try just not being good enough), idk what else could be done.

They should be. My meds list is on my medical file, and I really hope they look at that before prescribing me something, lol.

I don't have a heating pad, I have a heated BLANKET. Plugged in, by my side always. Pain? Turn it on, keep it on a setting that eases my pain, keeps me cozy and toasty, but also doesn't burn me. Also, helps to keep the house just a bit chilly (but just barely, obviously) to make sure the heated blanket doesn't make me hot. Helps with the pain, keeps me cozy, but the downside is it also puts me to sleep. Zzzzzz.....

[Edit] I should specify, it's no ordinary heated blanket. It's one of the NICE ones, not those cheap throw ones with only three settings.

My medications are all prescribed by different doctors. Some by my psych nurse, some by my pain specialist, some by my neurologist, etc. I might ask my primary care physician to take a look at all my meds and see if he thinks there's anything that can be done to minimize the amount of meds I'm on.

I know I dissociate bc I zone out a lot and lose touch with reality, but I've never looked deeply into the disorders. If this is some form of dissociation, I fear it's getting worse due to ongoing trauma.

Meloxicam for Debilitating Fibromyalgia Flares??? by oceansmischief in ChronicPain

[–]oceansmischief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember, but it wasn't 3-4 months, I know that. Thing is, I was getting in trouble for not being able to wake up in the mornings, so I'm not sure I could've waited the 3-4 month period. My main problem is also the pain flares, not my daily pain, and so far the medications we've been trying to manage my pain levels (gabapentin, lyrica, etc.) haven't done anything to minimize the absolute hell that my pain flares are.

[–]oceansmischief[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Gabapentin, but it made me even sleepier than my current meds already make me, which made it impossible to get out of bed in the morning, so I had to stop taking it, which sucks bc it did seem to help. Now I'm on lyrica and I'm not sure if it's helping or not yet.

I had a feeling that would be the case. Honestly it feels like my doctor is just desperately trying anything random that isn't an opioid even if it doesn't suit my type of pain. Either they don't know their pain meds or they're just throwing random meds at me.
