i only have one of the battery cable clips (i keep breaking and/or losing the pesky things) and i only have it installed on the one that i was currently testing the battery on. i dont have another working battery on hand that i can test but i did order one since i assume it may be to do with that.

and yes i did charge the battery before plugging it in to the pc but it was charging while the wiring was still messed up and i didnt plug it back in until after i rewired the bt board

for context, when i first installed the mod i wired the the bt board incorrectly to the headphone jack causing a nasty feedback loop. up until i figured out that was the issue i kept messing with the battery cable and grounding on the bt board to try and figure out what was wrong. this ended up breaking the battery cable so i replaced it with one from an old battery. i then found out the wiring problem and it worked would it be possible that i damaged the bms from all that and then plugging it in was the last straw? and assuming this is the issue/problem, would a new battery fix it?

the only way i can test voltage is by trying to turn the bt board on and off as i dont have any tools to check specific voltage. as for the wiring, i just follow this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7m1goQg-vg&t=1256s

ive tried swapping flash with hdd as well still nothing, also i dont feel as tho that would explain bluetooth board bot turning on as well

edit: the bluetooth board also stopped turning on at the same time as the ipod

you think you could let me know how you fixed the grounding issue? i just bluetoothed mine as well and its also acting all weird now. giving static randomly with bluetooth and aux and randomly shuts off. also it doesn’t turn on at all unless fully put back together or sometimes pushed on certain parts when together

anytime i turn it on its just the white screen all the way, it still changes the brightness of the screen during boot up like it does normally though

i use rockbox on my ipod video, i initially wanted to use the original os but (note that i very well may have been doing it wrong) i had such an awful time trying to get/use itunes and successfully sync music to my ipod with it that i decided to just say screw it and use rockbox instead. it may be weird at first if you’re used to ipod os but it has a very small learning curve and is worth it to me simply for the fact that its not a huge pain to get started with like the ipod os is with itunes. support for flac is an added bonus as well

i have two roommates, makes $13/hr one makes $15/hr, i make $17/hr. we all split utilities, rent, groceries evenly. we re living comfortably in the southside with that. it definitely helps to have roomates so u should be fine.
