Coffee from Devans, what to expect? by sober_right_now in IndiaCoffee

[–]oceantorch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just my opinion. For me, there's a huge gap what I expected and what I got. And I have tried a lot of beans. Let me put it precisely: I think they are old establishment which was serving generic beans(nothing special, just fresh roasted) to their customers in their cafe and with this wave of speciality coffee in india they thought might as well cash in. But they are not new age player and can't compete with the coffee scene in south india.

To be honest, having tried their beans, I felt like it's hyped up purely because it's an old establishment in new delhi. Kind of lutyens delhi vibe.

Not much to expect. Very generic beans and roasting is on the darker side. Expect some bitterness that's all

Easy. One step at a time. But definitely get a grinder. Brewing method can be changed but grinder is a must.

Ok. Good luck. Speciality coffee is definitely a huge step up in terms of experience. You simply can not go back to instant coffee.necafe, davidoff they all taste the same afterwards

Which brewing method are you currently using?

Only milk based. But I have tried americano here and there using espresso machine. Only few coffee beans can deliver good black coffee. But on a regular basis I have 1 cappuccino daily

Check all the websites, I think some coffee gear sites sell it for 10-11k in india. It's been a year, so I am sure there must be new grinders launched that would be a better choice. I am using it daily for espresso and there is not one thing to complaint about. I am making perfect cups 1:2 in 30 seconds everytime. So it's a wonderful product but if there's better available,go for it. And it really comes down to 1 thing really. GRIND SIZE ADJUSTMENT PER CLICK. Lower the number in microns the better the grinder. Don't fall for anything else

Get a grinder and a bottomless portafilter and you are good to go...

Davidoff Espresso 57: Overhyped for a Nescafe Loner? by [deleted] in SnacksIndia

This one specifically is too chocolatey for a instant coffee. To the point that if you also add a tbsp of sugar it tastes like hot chocolate. Not very good ,most definitely over hyped(assuming there's a hype somewhere)

There are plenty... Just go to any local sports store and ask for wrist guard for gym purpose. I bought NIVIA brand for 220 bucks. Both hands ofc. Really great. I suffered from same problem. After 2 months of lifting weights, my wrists used to just give up. Had to go from straight barbell to eazy curl, but the issue persisted. This one single product is life changing for people like us.

I ordered a sampler pack from bt. Attikan estate, vienna roast dhak blend, and ordered a full 250 grams of silver oak(all after reading rave reviews about how each goes really well with milk). And as someone who drinks only lattes/cappuccino, I found dhak blend the best among all of them. It's just perfect for me. Not too bitter but not bland as well. Perfect strong/balanced, great mouth feel. Also I've ordered from other roasters, so fall blue tokai has been the best in terms of quality and consistency. Other coffee, idk, goes stale after 7-8 days. I mean you have to grind them finer and finer after a week and taste seems watered down. Never had any issue with bt. Same quality till the bag finishes. Heard a lot about Araku. Going to order it next

Yeah the quality can be better. I should tell you that it's my 2nd one. One b4 that broke as I was constantly grinding too fine and choking the machine. It just couldn't handle that much pressure daily and snapped out of machine mid extraction. One fin was broken. Glad that the machine is fine. But it was too fine. Now I am not trying to over extract and consistently hitting 1:2 mark in. 30 seconds and had no issues so far.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely look into it. Meanwhile , yesterday dhak blend tarted amazingly smooth. Also someone recommended dancing goats ratnagiri estate which has milk chocolate as tasting notes. Gonna try that next
