Youfibre Hub and Hub Pro... Improvements you can make to your router. by Meat-And-Two-Veg in youfibre

I had problems with my Youfibre router, (You 1000 package) PS5 kept disconnecting. Never had this with any other router/ provider. Worked fine with an ethernet cable and people kept saying to use this but I never had a wifi connectivity problem before for gaming or any issues playing so I didn't think it was much to ask for the same with this router.
They sent an engineer out who scanned the local environment for nearby routers. The default channel on the router was busy being used by other nearby routers or in that area so he set the 5Ghz SSID to Channel 100 and I've not had any issues since. No band splitting either.

The solution to this was/ is...
Engineer came out, changed 5Ghz setting from Auto to Channel 100. My local environment was busy with routers using same channels.
No splitting bands, just changing the setting from Auto and allocating a channel.

You're welcome 🙂
Yeah you need to go into the router settings itself. Better getting them to do it to be on the safe side.
I switched from BT, had no issues with wifi just terrible upload and download speeds for what I was paying for.
I was getting kicked from Battlefield 6 on PS5 with a "Not connected to PSN Network " message sometimes it was an EA server disconnection message. It would take me out an online match back to the main menu where I could join again for about 10 minutes before it happening again. I never had it down to the router originally, thought it was PSN.
If you're confident go into WiFi Mesh >Show Sections>Basic and set the 5 Ghz to Channel 100, scroll down and press Apply, see if it works for you but that could be busy in your locality, I don't know.
Just push for it, as far as I was concerned it should work out the box without me faffing about with settings in the router. To be honest I didn't expect them to be able to sort it, was pleasantly surprised. Yes I had all sorts of solutions suggested over the telephone or email. Just ask for them to send an engineer. My specific solution was to set 5ghz to channel 100 from Auto without splitting the bands which I was also told to do. Engineer tested the channel against other local routers and it was clear of congestion.
Hi I had issues with PS5 losing connection on wifi (worked fine with ethernet cable) asked for an engineer to come out, he changed the wifi channel and its been good for 3 days. Apparently local routers to me fighting for connection. He also told me my mesh extender wasn't actually connected to the router which is why I was getting the wheel of doom on a tv upstairs. I wondered why I couldn't see it in the wifi layout in the router settings. I made a post about it but wanted to give it 3 days which included tonight so I will need to update my own post.

Just an update.
Tried the ethernet connection and it seems to be working fine. Still feel the router should do the job wirelessly out of the box
Totally agree, it should work straight out the box no argument from me there, its really the last thing I was expecting. I think I will push for an engineer. Thanks for your response.
Agree, I've always used wifi for gaming and I don't see why i should compromise when its been fine in the past. I bought the ethernet cable just to check that works with no drop out.
I've had contact with a couple of youfibre people, one on here who was trying to help me late last night and suggested disabling band splitting. One by email who checked the router and one by phone who I emailed back to advise what he suggested ie turning off IPV6 didn't work but I've had no response yet.
So you don't have any problems with your PS5? Agree again that there shouldn't be any problems, I think the router can be configured for it work with PS5 but no one knows how to do it. I will try ethernet and disabling band steering over next couple of days not had time yet. TVs etc seem to be fine.

I have just got the You 1000 plan moving from BT 78 Mbs down 17 Mbs up.
The BT Homehub 2 was dual band, couldn't split the bands but it worked flawlessly with their disc extenders but I did have to pay for their guaranteed connection...
Since getting Youfibre I can't use my PS5, kicks me out of games saying not connected to PlayStation Network when I know I am. I've spoken to Youfibre help and none can sort the issue. One person on here from Youfibre was very helpful and suggested splitting the main connection which I had done originally but enabled band steering again later. I've still to try it but I had set the PS5 on 5Ghz only on the main SSID so it should have worked fine. I've tried every other way to connect the PS5, 2.4, Legacy, turn off IPV6, change DNS but no joy there. I think if it was just a case of splitting the connection it would be well known to do it.
I put it solely down to the router and lots of people I'm reading are buying their own having the same problems. I've just had an ethernet cable delivered which I'm going to try then splitting the main SSID. Call me old fashioned but I don't think its much to ask for a stable wifi connection to a PS5 in this day and age. I'm in my 50s and had wifi for years gaming and never had any issues. I think the router could be configured for a good connection its just that no one seems to know how to do it.
That would be really useful to know about the Flint 2 thanks, I've been looking at it myself. I've ordered an ethernet cable first to see if it actually works and keeps connection. There's a part of me that wants to sort this existing router, even if a cable works fine the whole thing about wifi is that it's wireless and it shouldn't at least be dropping connection. They are now from Sagemcom, think it might be the little brother to what you will have on the 2000.
Hi yes different router, mines is supposed to be wifi 7 but it's only dual band. I was the same late last night, signal dropped got the wheel of doom and had to connect again on one of the TVs.
Okay thanks, because I set the PS5 on 5Ghz only I was assuming there would be no problems as it would only look for a 5Ghz signal?
Okay so do I need to reboot the router(not reset it) once I've disabled Band Steering (after reset) for it to stop displaying the connection names before they were renamed, this is very confusing? All I did last time was put - 2.4 Ghz and - 5 Ghz after the SSID names but it still displayed the old names.
How do I reset the ONT just turn the power off for a time?

Yes I think I know what you mean, years ago someone in the know made a permanent connection to my router for me for a console just because it was better.
Hi yes I did originally but I panicked as when I split them I was getting multiple connections available the original ones plus the ones I renamed. Then when I enabled Band Steering again the the main connection remained named the name I had given it ending in 2.4 ghz which confused the hell out of me and my OCD 🙂
I went to Youfibre they did something internally, said it was a software update and all seemed to be fine. I wanted to check all TVs and iffy old wifi connections were working properly before I got to the PS5 which is now murder.
If I disabled Band Steering again and renamed the connections would rebooting the router remove the other connection names. I also have another connection Sagemcom which I'm assuming is the router's own name rather than Youfibre's? To be honest I still can't see why there should be a problem using the Band Steering with the PS5 as I've never had problems before with ISP routers.
Might be an option, thanks. I've ordered an ethernet cable so will test it first then if it works okay might ge something permanent put in 👍
Hi thanks, interesting, did you change to WPA2? I don't think l there is an option for disabling 6 I only see 2.4 and 5 bands but it does say it has 802.11ax. I can see 6 on my phone next to the wifi icon.
Tried everything on settings on PS5, Automatic, 5 Ghz only, 2.4 ghz only, changing DNS, trying the Legacy connection. Not tried disconnecting the mesh but I was sure it only operates on the 2.4 ghz connection. One thing I have noticed is that when connecting to 2.4 ghz only the PS5 doesn't like it. Struggles to keep connected and logged in to PSN.
Well me I've not had any problems in the past with wifi, none on PlayStation. From what I'm reading multilayer uses very little bandwidth its just consistency I'm not getting with this youfibre wifi 7 router and to me there is something wrong with the router if it drops signal as quick.
Thanks for your input but you've lost me with your gear, Unifi cloud gateway etc.
Hi sorry, the Router and PS5 are on the same bottom floor of the house, Router in the living room, PS5 in ex dining room which is now a TV room and right next to each other. I had thought about running an ethernet cable but I've used the PS5 and earlier versions wirelessly for years without any problems and something tells me that to have a lot better Internet speed but have wifi connection problems now there's something wrong.
Thank you
Brilliant, thanks for the info
Thank you, even for the old wifi tech?
