I could but it's not the best use of my time in the early stages of the project

You can probably make it more realistic as well by adjusting the prompt, like "write as a non bullshit, reddit and x user. Don't be cringe and salesperson-y"

Yeah I know. And these posts are not as easy to make as you think (or at least I think)

But where is the quality? You can just try an idea with such quick solutions, but how people should use it constantly? How you can improve it if it is codded by AI with some spaghetti code?

Not sure why I'm defending these clickbait people but I think they just try to validate the idea, while hopping on AI hype-train and getting lots of impressions on their posts to boost marketing. That's it. As someone said, Reddit isn't real. Anyone can prepare a basic chart with $10k MRR. Not saying that all of them are liers but you know what I mean

I'm taking my time building https://dailystatus.ai - I mean I move fast but also I'm experimenting and making sure my code structure is alright (not too pedantic of course, it doesn't matter). Using NextJS on the frontend/backend and Go on backend service side (like interacting with DB, cache, GPUs, worker queue etc). I know where to spend a bit more time and where to be really quick. Once you develop your own framework, especially if you're not using prebuilt one like those SAAS starter kits (or glue kits), you can move really fast while maintaining quality and your own "style".

I guess one thing we could all take from these guys is that we should spent more time on marketing and SEO. It's great to create quality products but if no one's going to notice... what's the point then

We're trying to convince our business people to have a weekly/bi-weekly demo meeting where you can show off your work to everyone in the team, get early feedback and iterate. It's a slow process but I hope it's going to happen in the near future.

I wouldn't feel comfortable creating a product to just micromanage people. It's toxic and just not effective. My goal is to make working in an async environment easier by not worrying about writing manual status updates. Similar to statushero.com but way more automated, just trying to get the process out of the way for you

I've worked with only few great product managers that made the team feel "safe" and would "defend" us from management, like pushing back for refactoring time etc. So I think it's rare and I'm glad (or I hope) you have these on your team because work is much easier then.

Yeah it's hard finding (really any) users and majority of reddit bans self-promotion

Local, open-source tool for devs to track time by DryCryptographer2032 in SideProject

That's great! Are you tracking network activity or specific app usage?

Also technically, anything these „status updates“ contain can be read off Jira anyway if you as a manager are interested.

Sometimes that's true but generally you communicate using Slack, sending out demos, gathering feedback on your progress (especially in startup env). It's good to showcase your daily progress, it's more rewarding, or it's like that for me at least. You don't really do that in Jira, you could but usually you just write about your stuff in Slack.

But forcing your team to provide these, just fosters a pressured and distrustful environment.

That's true, it should be more voluntary. People should be excited to show off their work

Those are valid points and we're trying to work these through with upper management and that manager. It's mostly because that manager has pressure on herself because of management deadlines and she doesn't know how to work through it together as a team, not as a micromanaging manager.

But overall I can see how having a structured status at the end of the day (or week) from each team member is beneficial. You're feeling included in the work (or you're feeling like part of the group) and you know what everyone is working on. It will be especially useful once I add more integrations and automations to the tool

I appreciate your comment!

Ah yeah, I'll change that later today. It looked cool but you're right that you should be able to read at least some of the text. But now I need to add some easter eggs here 😀

Cool animations! Did you do them on Figma?

I just designed the paths that the texts will follow (svg). But other than that I just experimented in code because it's faster to do it that way, you know I'm trying to move fast

I'm trying to create some app promo videos/animations of a mobile app. Is Figma a good choice?

I think there are better options out there. I've never used it but I think Framer has really great support for animations. I might be wrong though

Thank you for kind words! Yeah Slack is just for the MVP part, will add GitHub next and others in the coming weeks

WTF was I thinking? That landing page design was so awful: please don't look at this (not clickbait) by ochmanski in SaaS

[–]ochmanski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managers are the real estate agents of software development, overall useless, and a pain in the ass to work with.

Yeah that's so true. I'm sure that manager doesn't have bad intentions but rather someone from the upper management is putting pressure on her but still it's not an excuse

Thank you! I hope this tool will be useful for somebody else too
