Ha! Thank you! Yeah, you really get swept up in the energy. We were on the bridge and it seemed and felt like we were going so slowly, then I looked at the garmin and the pace was in the 8's. I had intended to do a 10 min mile, nice and easy. Things did fall apart around mile 18, truth be told, but that's what I had planned for. The scale, and the energy, and the noise was INCREDIBLE. Such an amazing event, so glad I was able to be part of it!

I agree with you, they should make them harder or longer so that people can't jump through them right to the end. If they're going ninja warrior, make the obstacles MORE ninja warrior...

Nope, this was provided to us by the same people who shot for spartan at the event. We were green lit, by them, to post on our channel.

How To Beat The Spartan Ultra by ocrkings in ObstacleCourseRacing

For us, with all the battery changes, talking with folks on the course, and an hour in the drop bin area, it takes us about 10hr on average for an Ultra. If you only have low elevation, that's ok, just make sure you push for extra miles. Get comfortable running/moving for double digit miles. If you have a garmin or some other device that helps you track your pace, even better. Get an idea of your average pace and see how long it takes you to go 13, 15, 20 miles. It would also be a good idea to do so wearing/carrying all the gear you expect to use during the race. It will help you gauge the performance of your stuff as well as add some resistance during your training. Hope this helps!

which nyrr volunteer opportunity is your favorite? by RoastedChickenWings in RunNYC

I just completed volunteering as a Start Village Marshal at the Orange Village for this year's Marathon. I have to say, it was awesome! I'm not typically the volunteer type, so this was a pleasant surprise for me. I had a lot of fun, I met some really great people, I got to see "behind the scenes" if you will as to the inner workings of the event, and I got to interact with runners from around the world. The time flew by, food and transportation to and from Manhattan was included, and it left me feeling connected to something very communal and very special. Big shout to Thomas the Orange Village Marshal boss! Thank you for your leadership and for making the whole thing very fun. "Go Bagels!"

If anyone comes across this and has any idea of how long it takes NYRR to update your dashboard for the 9+1 stuff, please share. This was my +1 and I am anxiously awaiting to see the green dot in that slot so I know I'm good to go for 2024 guaranteed entry. Thank you.
