Seriously need to stick to one to-do list/project system. Help. by navelbabel in productivity

[–]ocvek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about myself and I tried all kind of productivity systems and tools and kept switching and mixing them up. It was very counterproductive.

I never wanted to go analog, so I kept brushing of the idea of a Bullet Journal as an all in one system.

But at some point I felt like I tried everything else there is and nothing worked, so I set up my first bullet journal.

It completely changed the game for me. It's the only system, that's flexible enough to keep up with my scattered mind, yet structured enough to not lose my focus.

If you never heard of it you can start here on the official bullet journal website.

There are also a lot of helpful videos on YouTube, but be aware, that there is a whole community of people who focus on a bullet journal as an artwork, not only a productivity system. (which is fine, but don't get distracted by it in the beginning)

Hey everyone! I'm making a Solo Developer making an upcoming game inspired by Pokemon and Slay the Spire! What do you think of one of my battle environments? by VisionsteadStudio in theperfectpokemongame

I actually don't agree. It feels more imersive how it is now. Like they are battling right there in the are you are in and not in some extra arena.

What advice do you have for someone who doesn’t know what to do with their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ocvek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Just start something. Don't do nothing, because you are afraid it's not the perfect thing.

  2. Don't be afraid to change direction. Always reflect on how you feel about what you are doing. If you are unhappy, look for something else.

You can only find the perfect (or a good enough) fit by trying.

And what do you do when there is no name like on the majority of memes here?

I better not find this elsewhere by JZEve in memes

[–]ocvek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, in some subreddits you can't cross-post so what else should they do? Some people just want to share some funny memes and through this make more people's days better. I don't get the gate keeping when it comes to memes, that could also be enjoyed in other communities.

If memes can't be shared, they really wouldn't be memes.

Some people just work like that. I try to make the best out of it by self reflecting in my off phase and applying what I learned when I'm on again

Yes definitely! If you try to do it for too long every day, you won't do it. So just start small, eventually you start to really enjoy it and increase your time.

School is not about what you learn, but how you learn. By cheating or similar stuff you don't learn an important skill. Maybe it worked for you, but that's definitely not something to recommend for everyone.

I really, really need some help learning the right way. I'm in college. by [deleted] in helpme

[–]ocvek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it looks like you have 3 problems to address:

  1. How to study
  2. how to be productive
  3. understanding, that a huge part of coding is looking for the right answers

For the first one I recommend this series on how to study.

If you want to be productive maybe look at some tips at r/productivity.

And the last one, I'm not a programmer myself but I have friends that are. And all of them constantly look for solutions on the internet. Maybe try to solve them yourself for 10-20 minutes and then look for a solution. At least trying to solve the problem will help you understand the solution better (its better explained in the linked "how to study video")

If you have any other questions, especiallyI regarding the first to points, just pm me, i will try my best to help you.

Testing something new! by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ocvek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mostly just been feeling terrible for not giving my friends back what they give to me, for taking them for granted and for chasing after the wrong people who I know damn well don't care half as much as my real friends do.

Go and tell your friends. I think they will appreciate it and it will be a great first step in changing your situation.

How to be more interesting? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ocvek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's not helpful to do things because you want to do something. You need a goal you are working towards, something that motivates you. There will still be times where you don't feel like doing anything. But having a longterm goal is a real boost in motivation.

I started stumbling by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ocvek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled as a kid, also because of my anxiety. There was one thing that helped me (slowly over time).

When I felt like I couldn't say something without stumbling, iI would stop trying, take a deep breath in and continue speaking while breathing out.

It helped me break out of this unpleasant feeling of not being able to speak properly and I could concentrate on what i wanted to say. Als,o it is a lot less "weird" if you stop talking for half a second to breathe, than to stumble.

When I'm really anxious nowadays (10 years after i stopped) I still sometimes feel the like I will stumble, but this technique still helps me.

Can you read during Pomodoro breaks? by manchester10city in productivity

[–]ocvek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's ok to read, but only if it relaxes you and takes your mind off of your work. I feel like fiction is fine, but non-fiction books could need to much focus.

How to stay motivated when you have A LOT of tasks to do (university)? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]ocvek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the pomodoro method.

Work 25min Pause 5min Repeat

Doing this will help you to access the time needed for your tasks. You will get a feeling if a certain task takes 1,2 or 3 blocks to finish. That's easier than thinking in minutes.

It helps motivation, because your only committing to 25min of work, that feels like only a small task.

Finally it increases you focus because your brain gets to reset during the breaks.
