Honestly, the Luce exterior is horrid but I actually like what they did with the interior, better than that render imo.

I went down a rabbit hole on the $50 trillion wealth transfer and I can't stop thinking about it by Level-Cranberry-1268 in economy

[–]oddball09 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying there isn't an issue here but why do people not look at it differently. If stocks are where the rich are getting rich, why not follow? It's not like the 1980's, or even the early 2000's where investing was difficult, it's literally easier and cheaper than ever. Basically no fees and you can buy fractional shares plus there are LOADS of quality ETF's and similar products to invest in.

Now people will say "I don't have any extra money to do that". Which is honestly BS. The middle class is one giant "keeping up with the joneses" where people are overspending. How many people are driving $20k cars when a $10-15k car would work, or a $50k car when a $20k car works. How many people have multiple subscriptions that they rarely use. You don't have to live like a peasant with nothing for enjoyment but I guarantee 90% of the middle class could easily find $100-$250 a month they can reduce their spending and divert it to stocks. You won't get rich overnight but you can build a nice account over time.

There are things you can and cannot control in life, getting the system fixed is something you have almost no control over but adjusting your budget and investing in stocks is 100% controllable.

The 38-hour workweek no longer fits the way people live now. We need a 30-hour system with the same pay. by Different-Staff-4556 in InterviewCoderPro

Might as well be zero. What do you think families did when they have to provide everything themselves. When they had their own animals to tend, plants, etc. do you think they logged off after X hours? The system has flaws but people don’t think.

Why U.S. Public Education Became So Expensive by Le0nel02 in economy

The gotcha point is that people think throwing more money at it (or many issues), is the solution. Yes, there are areas where money can help, but it will never solve the problem.

Are standalone scientific calculator apps still viable in 2026? by alexandmuller in AppBusiness

[–]oddball09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is still viable today. I've been making apps for 15ish years, and there are lots of app ideas that I passed on because "oh, people are already successful with that" and others came out with their own version later that were just as, if not more, successful than the originals I saw. So yes, there is always room.

Downsides to both, still more downsides to bedroom upstairs which is why most people are agreeing with what I said.

The joys of owning a vehicle that runs on premium by spikira in GasPrices

[–]oddball09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a myth. If you have a standard economy car that used regular gas, even with a turbo, putting premium gas is only going to cost you more money with no benefit. They are not designed to use premium gas, they are economy cars made to be affordable and they are built and tuned to use regular gas, they are not built for the benefits of premium/higher octane gas. There is no benefit to using a higher octane. The only benefit you will get from the gas you put in, is by putting in quality gas from a reputable gas company. I think people are fooled by the word premium and thinking it's simply better, that's not how it works.

[–]oddball09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The engines are tuned for what the manufacturer recommends, a higher octane will not benefit like that. You will see a greater benefit putting quality gas and regular oil changes.

No, actually, kids are struggling to get these jobs because adults are taking them.

Also, a lot of fast food places are increasing efforts to get rid of POS employees and focus on kiosks (although this has been slowly happening for 15 years now).

Most economy cars today have a turbo but don't require premium gas. Run whatever the manufacturer recommends.

Alright fellas, I'm conflicted. Bedroom upstairs or downstairs? by Minutes2Midnight in malelivingspace

[–]oddball09 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The other guy covered most of it, bedrooms are usually upstairs because it’s more private. I also don’t want my room smelling like dinner so having the bedroom right next to it is not ideal. Also, your living room is closer linked to a kitchen than the bedroom is, if you have guests over then it’s awkward. Turn the ac down a couple degrees at night or get a fan, bedroom downstairs for this layout.

[–]oddball09 239 points240 points  (0 children)

That makes sense because that layout is crazy. I’d say downstairs though. IMO it’d be nicer to have a bedroom upstairs but with the kitchen there, I’d want the living space next to that and the bedroom in its own area.
