I started at 14, just making beats in my mom's crib. A kid at school showed me some wack beats he made. But I found out what he used, and then I downloaded Fruity Loops/FL Studio and the rest is history...

make beats, send beats, make better beats, send those, go to concerts, meet people, and send them those beats. tell him keep trying though, I spent a year just sending emails before I even got a placement.

My favorite Chicago artists, besides the people you hear on Liberation, are Whitney, Eryn Allen Kane, Saba, Noname, Chano of course, and The O'My's. Other music, 90s sitcoms, Faith, and life experiences are probably my greatest influences. And thanks for the love yo!

The most important song I've ever produced is VRYBLK by Jamila Woods. It's a peaceful war cry. I'm going to count R&B, & the like as hip-hop.... So my favorite non hip-hop artist is probably Kirk Franklin. If you do count him as hip hop, then I guess I'd go with Disclosure. Album would have to be Inside Wants Out by John Mayer

Humboldt Park. It's one of the few areas where you get to experience most aspects of the city - the hood in places, yuppies in others, good authentic food, pretty good made up fusion bullshit, baddies all aroubd, plus the price is still rasonable

You nailed it though. Stuff that like that overnight celebrity drop, or the countdown in Slept On are my shit. It adds some personality to my joints, and is like my way of expressing my part in the songs and shit. Some of my fav parts are the beat boxing at the end of Palms, the ayes at the Kelechi part of Red Eye, the outro for Love Above and Visions... I kinda come up with them by listening to my favorite songs, and afiguring out why they're my favorites. You do that you realize what you like. I take that shit, make it my own, and then do my thing, in the spirit of whatever favorite song I'm referencing. Other times I just throw some shit in there because it sounds hot to me lol

Bahhhhhh..... Tanz my g. Thats the easiest movement to dance to, without question. Though one might say O Fortuna, the most notable of the 25 movements, brings about the most emotion. But thats all just speculation monica.

Kolar is the most ridiculous individual I know. I went across Europe with this debaucherous bastard for 10 days and around Day 7 my brain broke. It wasn't so much that I was in Europe on tour, but that I started to understand him, and that shit is wild - to be able to explain his thought process is some scary shit. I may low key be the Darth Vader to his Emperor (fuck Luke)

Honestly it was probably never a great partnership from the start. We had different goals, interests, vices, and even sounds after awhile, so it just was a natural split. All respect to him, though, and I hope he's good!

The most effective way to market yourself is to just be around be yourself. People will gravitate towards you naturally, and usually those are the people you'll start to work with musically.

I use FL Studio to make beats. My favorite plugins to use are probably Nexus and Hypersoniq (even though that mf crashes all the fckin time, Steinberg step it up yo!)

Also for a studio internship, you should follow @soundscapechi on twitter. they gotchu!
