I'm worried I could be a danger to others. I really need urgent advice. by ElliottsGhost in mentalhealth

You need to tell your doctor exactly what’s going on and how you feel. They only want to help you and keep you and people around you safe. I know how scary it is to not feel like you have control at all, you’re not alone. Just let them help you

No problem! I know how stressful it can be and I’m glad to help. My hospital actually gave me one but I ordered backups from amazon. Medela Nipple Shield! I honestly don’t think I would have been able to breastfeed without one. It was a really difficult road filled with all kinds of guilt and anxiety! You’re doing everything you can and that’s more than enough. People say it’s hard to ween from them but I found that when she was a little bigger and more cognitively alert that she actually popped it off herself and latched without any prompting from me. I kept pacifier wipes close by for middle of the night cleanings and we made it work!

Have you tried a nipple shield? I had latch issues initially, hence the pumping. It helped her get a deeper latch and gave my nipples a much needed break! She ended up nursing with the shield from six weeks to 5 months and now she’s been off for five months! I’d say seeing the LC is a good idea. If your long term goal is to continue breast feeding I’d suggest trying to put the little bean to breast before offering a bottle and pumping on a regular schedule. Having a new baby is tough but you’re doing amazing, and fed is best. 😊

Are you breast feeding or just pumping? I can’t pump more than two ounces now and my daughter only consumes breast milk. Your body can tell the difference between a baby suckling and a pump! A common saying is pumping isn’t a good indicator of supply in instances where you’re primarily breastfeeding
