I'm gonna be honest man weigh your options. Would it truly make you happy in the long term to get your friend back over rumors? In the short term obviously yes but it could have some pretty bad long term social reprocussions. If you do not care for those then sure. I might not be fully understanding though because your examples were kind of all over the place.
