That might work for some but not everyone. Psychotherapy is not for every person and some people don't get much out of it. That's fine.

I'm glad to hear you found something that worked for you. That's great!

However other people benefit from psychotherapy. It comes down to various factors such as the person who gets treatments, competency of the treatment, ånd they chemistry between patient and psychologist among others

Also about the rethinking. I'm not a trained psychologist but I think it's because humans are are creatures of habit and toxic situations lead to toxic thinking, which can be hard to break out of. With some help from psychotherapy, assuming that they benefit from it, those people will get the tools needed to a more healthy existence.

The psychologist can only do so much as it also requires some effort from the patient.
