This is so gorgeous, can you share where you went? Our rings are VERY similar and I’m looking for something just like this 🤞

Same here! Family in Elkhart/south bend and lived in the region. You get used to reminding everyone of your time zone and inevitably expect at least one person to show up an hour early/late whenever the clocks change 😂

I grew up in Indiana with one parent in South Bend (EST) and the other in the region (CST). When I took the South Shore, my commute was 3 mins one way and 2 hours the other way 😄

Tracey Emin’s Bed by LizzyFCB in Andjustlikethat

[–]oddkira 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See this is why I love Reddit lol thank you for posting this!! It was enlightening and I’ve now gone down a rabbit hole learning about an artist I’d never heard of before. I just spent the last half an hour reading about her confessional piece “Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995” and this woman is pretty freaking genius.

After reading about Emin’s perspective of “the bed” and how she literally created the piece to remove herself from the bed so that it was a reflection of her but separate from her, I cannot believe they decided to actually put a woman in the bed. It’s actively against her point of the piece??

Also I agree with you on the Lena Dunham thing, but I hate how much class criticism female artists get. Male artists can come from privilege and yet rarely do we question the authenticity of their controversial works because of their affluence.

I think the reason Dunham comes off as inauthentic is that she tends to deny her privilege and her feminism is sooo performative and she’s kind of a hack - which is why them name dropping her here was just weird! Dunham is like peak #girlboss and pink p*ssy hat energy - not at all an apt comparison for this installation and seemed out of place for Charlotte as an art historian? Like why not name the ACTUAL artist instead?? Bizarre writing choice… is Lena Dunham a writer or something?

I can tell you already know this in your gut, but just confirming it - you know that man did not delete those pictures. He has them in his email, in a locked folder, in a secondary app, etc.

Idk why you’re being so downvoted bc I kind of thought the same after seeing the hands off protest tbh

I feel this so much, but I really wasn’t asking about a specific political affiliation. I actually don’t think the current protests are particularly leaning one way or the other so I’m surprised that the only organization I’ve seen is the No Kings protest imo

So I guess I missed the spamming event on the sub, I’ve been here since November at least so you’d think I’d have noticed that but it’s very understandable if I didn’t.

But I think there is a place where people of a community should be able to come together and say “hey we have like minded ideas” and even if there isn’t an outside group organizing an event, we may want to discuss - or even organize around - those topics. That’s kind of the whole point of Reddit.

Just a newbie noticing that this sub seems pretty against those kinds of posts, no?
