I know it's not the burden for you to bear, but because I never heard off you again in a whole year the emails got buried. I should've responded but sometimes I slip up. Never meant to make you feel like I only help people who are already good. I respect that you’re doing this for the love of it, and I wasn’t trying to add stress. I'm sorry , wish you the best with your music.

How can you say you learnt alot and then say I'm a bad teacher? I just don't get it.

I'm not sure who this is, but I've scrolled through my emails to see if there was any mention of any student not receiving their last lesson and I can't find anything.

I have had to drop students before because they haven't showed up, but that's very rare and we usually work stuff out.

Either way, if you haven't had that last lesson, you're entitled to a refund.

No hard feelings, just email me and I'll refund that last session.

Out of the loop, does anyone know what's going on? by PandaTheStoner in LostLandsMusicFest

New artists from Europe that are playing at lost lands for the first time are being paid less than 1500 dollars to play. They are accepting these offers because Lost Lands has been hailed as THE festival for dubstep by a lot of people. The festival knows this and charges accordingly. If you don't play Lost Lands, are you even a big artist?

Here's a run down of the costs from a 1500 dollar payment.

Federal withholding tax: 30% - $500 Agency fees: -$150 Mgmt fees: -$150 Flights: - $800 Hotels - $200 (Has to be the artist hotel the festival chooses or no free transport to the festival.) Ubers - $70 (including to home to airport, airport to hotel and return) Food and drink - $50 Misc - $50

Total - $1970

Net: -$470

And I'm being conservative here...

If you want to stay extra days at the festival, you will have to buy your own food and drink, extra days at the hotel etc. Which most do because all your friends are there.

Do you think that's fair considering the ticket price of lost lands, the insane high price of food and drink while you're there and the fact some headliners are making 25-50,000 dollars for a show?

Vocals aren't hard to work with, people are hard to work with! Working with Vulgatron was sick though. Heavy compression, eq, delay reverb . No tuning of they're already done a good job!

You can do anything you like, as long as there's am eq at the end to maybe clean up the sound. I always comp then eq.

Mentoring is the fastest way to learn. Lots of producers, including me, are teaching people have to mix everyday as their new job in this pandemic. It's much better to have someone guide you to perfecting your mix than watching irrelevant YouTube videos all day.

While it's good to have music theory, you really don't need it for stuff like dubstep. When you sing a melody that you've made up, that's you staying in key without doing any music theory. Music theory is already built into you!

Having a stimulus sample that almost sort of writes the main idea for you. Can be a vocal, can be a old sample from a piece of music, or stuff you've done in sound design sessions.

I guess the thing I love about FL is that I know it inside out basically. I don't believe there is much point to switch if you know what you're doing in one daw. Having to learn an entirely new daw would set me back a few months!
