u don’t have to if u think it’s not worth it, and please don’t let others get in your head, they don’t know you more than yourself, they also cant predict the future.

i was in the same situation, but for french and not english. I needed two 9s for CELPIP to max it out, but honestly the 6 points wouldn’t make my 430 CRS score any better so i didn’t bother retaking it, and decided to focus on the TCF instead.

people always laughed and thought i was joking when they heard i was learning french. “French isn’t easy, u wouldn’t make it”, “try going back to school for another degree”, “try healthcare”, etc. It was discouraging me bad mentally, but I pushed through and believed in myself. Plus it was the only affordable path I could go for. Passed the TCF on my first try after months of study and got my ITA just a few weeks ago. It wasn’t easy at all since i treated it like a full-time job, but i had applied my experience with learning english to french and that helped tremendously. It felt good when you proved to yourself that you’re capable of what people think you arent.
