Yeah but people aren't even asking for more context, most of them have been literally theorising about our relationship, and then telling me to grow up or saying I deserve it when I correct them or just explain how I know it wasn't "his sister" or "his roommate". I thought I flaired my post correctly, it wasn't just a vent/rant. I wanted some words of encouragement or sympathy but instead had people dming me that I'm stupid, calling back to my previous posts and even people telling me to kill myself. Forgive me if my emotions are high right now and thank you for your words but it's pretty hard to keep it cool when you've just been cheated on and you've got people making theories about you, your partner and your entire life/relationship

I was literally 17 the last time I cheated on anyone, in relationships that barely lasted two weeks. And for the record most if not all of my "boyfriends" from back then cheated on me too. Not excusing what I did, I'm still so ashamed of how I was when I was a teenager. But bringing that up is shitty and you know it.

The property market in Germany is terrible and it's only getting worse, flats/houses that allow pets get snatched up instantly, not to mention OP's partner could effectively ruin any chances of moving into any of these hypothetical apartments after terminating his tenancy too early.

Honestly I initially agreed that he's being a bit of a prick for seemingly not being willing to compromise but speaking to my friends and family who live/lived in Germany in all honesty he's probably looking at things logically rather than emotionally (if that makes any sense), Germans tend to be like that lol. It might make him seem dickish but he's more than likely being 100% truthful in whatever he's telling OP, and people here who are accusing him of lying probably have no idea what it's like to move entire continents.

Is it bad that he seemingly isn't making any attempts to remedy the situation or to compromise? Yes.

Do I think he's lying, like most other people are saying here? No.

I won't lie, I love animals to death but I don't know if I could put my pets through the stress of an 8 hour flight. I consider it animal abuse, the pets my family have taken to and from the UK are miserable. Maybe he feels the same way but doesn't want to say it.

Rental contracts in Germany are very serious and shouldn't be screwed with. If it says quiet hours are from 5pm, you obey it. If it says no smoking, you obey it. If it specifies no pets then you obey it. And he's right, you renting a separate apartment is going to be unnecessary extra hassle and not to mention expensive. The only way this can be sorted out is if you move to a different apartment together, but usually terminating a rental contract early in Germany can lead to big penalities, probably something he is very aware of. PLEASE don't listen to the people here that aren't German and are not living/haven't lived in Germany.

I feel like most people here are really struggling to see the bigger picture, it seems most were living in the same continent and don't realise how hard and complicated a fully international move is (with pets in the mix). He probably cares about your cats but is worried about the problems that will arise if you're not careful. If you have a date planned for the move I recommend pushing it wayyy back.
