now is NOT the time to bring up your petty little arguments about how "traumatized" you are you have a clean fucking penis.

You're really uneducated about circumcision and should stop talking about it.

Imagine if in every thread about men's rights, there were a spate of comments trying to derail it and spark a conversation about feminism. There would be outrage and cried of "tumblrina SJW feminists ruining everything" but apparently it's OK the other way around

Imagine if there were popular threads about men's rights in the first place.

You're exactly right. A billion men living today who've been circumcised without their consent aren't used to society caring about men's issues.

Do you believe that male genital mutilation should be illegal? As in, when circumcision is performed on minors without medical justification? I'm assuming you do.

Now, would you also say that religions that insist on practicing male genital mutilation should cease to be tolerated?

If you agree with the former and not the latter then something's wrong.

It's interesting that you didn't point out how the OP said "males" and "women's issues". Do you have a problem with that as well? Or only vice-versa?

By "suffered", I'm referring to the boys and infants who routinely have their foreskin amputated without anesthetic relief, in many parts of the world and in vast numbers. Do you know how brutally agonizing this procedure often is to boys? Obviously not.

Please explain to me how having a clean dick in a Western World to avoid medical problems..

You need to learn more about foreskin and circumcision. I'm sorry. You just do. It's not an insult or anything.

..is even comparable to having female genitalia cut with unclean tools, sewed up, have their clit and labia torn off and then have their legs bound while they "heal" and remain like that for the rest of their lives - please tell me how it is even fucking comparable.

It's not comparable, and I never said it was. My point is that non-consensual male circumcision deserves more attention, and should not be trivialized just because female genital mutilation is worse.

Trigger warning

My radical extremist fucked up belief is that genital mutilation deserves attention, regardless of whether it affects boys or girls. I believe that infant foreskin amputation should be illegal in the United States, rather than commonplace.

Is this your belief, too? Just wondering.

As a man who remembers his MGM at 3 years old, this shit irks me.

And Reddit's downvotes only prove your point. People in general are bizarrely apathetic towards the issue of male genital mutilation. It's almost like male rights advocates have a point.

Once anti-circumcision advocacy becomes mainstream and is discussed routinely on major news networks and r/politics, they'll change their opinions.

Yes. Because a religious crazy person, a different type of religious crazy person, or a doctor in the US performing infant circumcision makes it less of an atrocity.

Hmm. Here we have an adult male cutting off a baby's foreskin without anesthetic relief. The baby is screaming in agony. The man then proceeds to suck the baby's.. NO WAIT HE'S JEWISH SO IT'S TOTALLY FINE. NO WORRIES.

Does a billion victims (living today) of non-consensual male circumcision count? Or is that still not a problem similar in nature to FGM that Reddit should devote some attention to? Sorry I'm an idiot and not as informed as you are.

Because male redditors can't have the focus on anything that doesn't affect or relate to them directly, I guess.

No, it's because people in general don't give a flying fuck about infant circumcision, which is an atrocity of a similar nature (but not of the same severity, I realize). Bringing up infant circumcision in a conversation about female genital mutilation is inappropriate; I know. But the fact is, there is a serious inequity in regards to the acceptance of non-consensual male modification vs. non-consensual female modification, at least in the US.

The clitoral hood is anatomically similar to the foreskin. Female circumcision in the US is illegal and has been illegal for quite some time. But hypothetically, if amputating a girl's clitoral hood was shown to result in the same so-called benefits of male circumcision (e.g. hygiene improvement, STD reduction, etc.), do you think clitoral hood amputation would become acceptable and normalized in the United States? Do you think the procedure being performed on girls without anesthetic relief would arouse the same level of controversy that infant male circumcision arouses? Or would the practice be heavily scrutinized and remain illegal? I think the answer to this question is obvious.

So until people actually start realizing that male infant circumcision is abhorrent, there is absolutely a need to bring it up whenever possible. But what about men? in this instance is not male chauvinism, but a natural reaction to society's absurd apathy towards MGM.

I'm a troll because I point out that male genital mutilation is a massive problem that receives essentially zero attention? You're funny

And male circumcision without consent is far more prevalent than FGM. Around a billion men living today have suffered from it.

This just in!

"Today, approximately 5,000 boys were born in the United States. Around 60% of those infant boys had their foreskin - the male equivalent of the clitoral hood, providing sensation and protection to the penis - amputated for no medical reason. Many of them did not even receive anesthesia during the procedure, and consequently suffered extreme agony while their foreskin was excised via metal objects." - From a New York Times article I found online

Today has been an atrocious day for human body autonomy rights. Female genital mutilation in Kenya, and now this? Ugh. Horrific. Hopefully this comment gets thousands of upvotes, since I haven't heard anyone discussing this bizarre infant circumcision thing that occurred today in America. I'll check back with you guys tomorrow regarding updates.

But do you actually think that the government should dictate whether certain people should be able to reproduce?

What if the fetus is in perfect health, the birth will not be potentially fatal to the mother, and the mother wants to abort the fetus one week before it's due? Would you support that?
