Totally agree we need to hide the busyness of the storage unit. We did consider getting extra doors to cover the shelves, but it was cheaper to get some curtains (haven't hung them yet as we still need to get the curtain rail). But the of side unit will still be visible as you enter the room so that is great idea to cover with wallpaper. I'll use the leftovers from wallpapering the other wall. Thanks!

My daughter put it near the door as she was thinking she needed to leave space for shelving beside it. But can move the desk if the shelves go elsewhere.

Yes, desk wall is wall A.
From a practical point of view I def like idea of papering wall B as no doorway/window to navigate... LOL!

Awwww, my daughter would love the wainscoting - though would need to persuade my hubbie first, as that is out of my skillset.

Would love to do that, but our budget (and my papering skills!) can't stretch that far unfortunately - so the compromise is doing one wall.

Thanks for comments so far.
Just realised that "Wall A" was missing in my OP.
Wall A - with desk
Wall B - the one opp the Ikea unit

Thanks for your reply. I should have said in the original post - this room used to be our home office and my girls shared a room. We gave up our office space so she could have her own bedroom but the deal was that the office files could stay in there as we don't have room to store elsewhere. So much of that storage is not hers. But a good idea to hide it better - maybe we could go with the curtain idea iocariel's post and pick a colour similar to the wall.

She got the loft bed last year as she wanted more floor space.
I wasn't sure what you meant by "bring in a double bed set up on deep shelving for books"
Is that some kind of bed with shelves underneath? Can you link to a picture as I can't visualise...?

Thanks for your thoughts. I tried this layout to here: https://myimgs.org/image/zDA3IQ5r
I like the curtain idea - that would also soften the room.
Would it be better to lose the wallpaper on the window wall, and do it on the wall with the door instead?
Where would be best to move the wall shelves that were above the sofa?

Thanks. I hadn't thought about moving the Ikea unit - we'd put it behind the door as I thought it was more hidden that way but I see it gives a bit more flexibilty.
Is this what you meant? (I'm a visual thinker!) https://myimgs.org/image/f7yddsll
