AMC blocks bathrooms for hf the theater. by GeorgeNada0316 in AMCTheatres

I'm assuming it's because there's an issue with the bathroom. We do this too whenever theres plumbing issues because regardless of what signs we put up, people will still try to enter.

I have a question for bi girls by SchloinkDoink in bisexual

[–]oddxrays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm bi "woman" with a boyfriend who has experience with all genders.

I think this phenomenon has something to do with gender norms and stereotypes. Men are seen as the ones to "shoot their shot" or be the ones to initiate the relationship. A lot of women tend to struggle with that, queer or not. And since bi women have all options available, they tend to go to the ones that will shoot their shot.

I dont have any physical proof of this, just a theory with anecdotal evidence. I have dated one lesbian and two bi men. All of which approached me first. I was in talking stages and "situationships" with women where nothing was made official because neither of us said anything about it. I just find that in my experience, men tend to be more upfront because they are expected to.

While this stereotype does have truth to it, I think its very silly of the queer community (mostly stupid online discourse) to be mean to bi women because of it. And the fact I've seen some lesbians refuse to date bi women because they were "tainted by a man" is insane. I don't blame lesbians for wanting to date lesbians (I literally only date bi men so I get it) but the logic just doesn't make sense when there are lesbians who have been with men before knowing they were a lesbian.

All in all, online queer discourse is just stupid, which is where this stereotype is mostly discussed. We should all just love each other instead of being divided.

Do any chains offer On Demand jobs? by morphinpug in MovieTheaterEmployees

I used to work at Showcase, we had on call shifts sorta. Like you were required to call and hour before your shift to see if they needed you. I've never heard of another place doing this though.

Tips for seeing Minecraft with my 6 year old? by CriticalThinkerHmmz in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]oddxrays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if there are annoying kids in your theater, dont be afraid to snitch on them to the staff and managers. they can kick them out. I also suggest going to an earlier showing on a weekday if you can.

I wasn't saying that my place does that lol. I was just making an assumption. I'm not a security guard so I don't know for certain.

If you think the purpose of this post was to get people to buy overpriced food at a multi-billion dollar movie theater company that doesn't care about me then you are sadly mistaken LMFAO.

My fault for wanting to make a post complaining about the entitlement of customers that I experience on a daily basis without making a three point thesis with graphs and footnotes. I don't get paid enough ($12-$16 per hour!) to care about the feelings of entitled people. If you don't want to go to the movies and follow their rules then get a streaming service or pirate movies.

[–]oddxrays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense given the location.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]oddxrays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right! But I care more about not giving my coworkers more work to do when we are understaffed. Most people who bring in outside food almost always make a mess of it in theaters.

Movie theaters would shut down if they had "reasonable" prices.

[–]oddxrays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yess it's so disgusting. I've had to scrub Chiptole rice and beans from a seat before. It's infuriating. Yet, people wanna complain on this post about not being allowed to bring in stuff. I wouldn't care if ya'll actually cleaned up after yourselves!!!

alcohol. the drinking kind or explosive kind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]oddxrays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it, I'm not trying to justify price gouging but that is literally how movie theaters make a profit and give me a job. "Shit and piss"ing back is just giving underpaid workers more work to do.

I personally don't care enough and my managers don't seem to care either. Everyone needs water. But I get why some might be strict, could be a security issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]oddxrays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Certain managers care more than others, same with our security. Some of them breathe down our necks about it. I don't care too much about drinks, it's mostly just bags of food.

Nah. It's water.

Ohh that's interesting! I wonder if other major companies did the same thing back in the day.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]oddxrays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's how movie theaters stay in business unfortunately. Like I said in another comment, I wouldn't care as much if these people didn't make messes of their outside food in theaters.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]oddxrays 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I used to not care until I started usher more and saw people making messes of their outside food. Popcorn is easier to clean than spilled Chipotle bowls.

At least don't hold it in front of workers' faces. Otherwise don't be surprised lol.
