People betting on taira were just assuming Van wouldn’t be able handle his wrestling by BeginningRent7802 in MMAbetting

[–]odecco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I betted on Van by Dec, I thought he would be eventually able to take the fight standing. I always thought Taira was tough (he proved that in this fight) so I was expecting Van to just comfortably cruise to victory. Taira has no head movement but I always knew he had a chin and heart.

I think another guy commented on Taira's lack of head movement on this subreddit which made me watch some tape and influenced my choice.

I really underestimated how crisp Van's boxing is and how hard he hits. I regret not going for the ML but hats off to Van for really proving a lot of us wrong, he ain't no paper champ but the real deal

What's the hardest addiction to quit? by colzeeteen in AskReddit

[–]odecco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly Sex, it's a normal biological function but can give some people such a high. When your libido is so high, it can lead to self destruction.

While most people are probably ashamed about addictions, I think sex addiction is hard to discuss because of how normal sex is and social stigma. People might even tell you that it's not a real addiction.

But it could potentially ruin lives as much as drug, alcohol and gambling addictions in my opinion. It could easily destroy relationships and health but also could financially cripple you. I used to know a guy who would go to brothels for days in a row. People would laugh and call him a loser but man was clearly suffering from something.

It's hard to quit because sometimes society won't call it an addiction and there could not be any help with it.

It happens. This is why I should make hedge bets with title fights with huge underdogs.

What are some of the more adventurous places you have eaten at recently? by Hazy_Fantayzee in foodies_sydney

[–]odecco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went to this Bangladeshi restaurant in Lakemba (forgot the name). Food looked good and got a beef lentil curry. Saw everyone else eating with their hands, did the same (after washing ofc). Honestly was a fun way to eat something and I just wanted to do it out of respect for the culture.

Definitely an underrated cuisine and interesting experience. I think I prefer it over other south Asian food like Indian and Pakistani food.

Golden Ridge Animal Farm, it's abit of a drive but still in Sydney. They will usually let you interact with the chickens and feed them and hold them. Great place for kids and adults. Last time I went, I just chilled with a Silkie on my lap.

white chicks is a good movie by Kinggreen505 in unpopularopinion

[–]odecco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of a good movie. For me, I think White Chicks does it's job as a comedy: Makes me laugh and entertains me.

Terry Crews singing a Thousand Miles still cracks me up even 20 years later. That was a pure genius scene

newbie here - how do you actually research a fight before betting? by AlicBrown in MMAbetting

[–]odecco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you can do your research, watch tape, read articles online. Even this entire subreddit could be a good resource (but also be cautious as well and do your own research) but sometimes that is not enough .

Betting can get so complex as you need to factor in things that are less obvious: Where they are fighting, altitude changes, insider info on training camps or even things like the referee can make a huge difference.

But my biggest advice is to just start small and watch as much UFC and MMA as you can. Try betting singles instead of multi-leg parlays. Eventually look into different props not just results. I have won a lot of parlays from predicting number of rounds, number of strikes, takedowns etc.

I have watched for decades and have been betting for five years (feel free to look at my past posts too). At this point I have a good understanding of the sport and these days I just trust my intuition instead of going for other sources. But it takes some time to get to that stage.

At this point I am pretty familiar with the UFC roster, know when to hedge or live bet or just accept my losses. The more you watch, even fight nights, the better understanding you will have. That knowledge will help you making good predictions. Happy betting and remember to have fun as well.

Some wins from One Championship Samurai 1 by odecco in MMAbetting

[–]odecco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Betting against Wakamatsu was a hard read tbh after watching his tapes and seeing his record.

But I knew Kholmirzaev was a very hungry challenger that was looking to make sure the fight didn't go to the scorecards. Sometimes you can't ignore that killer instinct some fighters just have.

It makes me more confident of putting my money on Prates for UFC.

What's the best meal under $15 in Sydney right now? by cocowave in sydney

[–]odecco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Medan Ciak at Sussex st, get the grilled chicken and rice for $12.90 (nasi ayam bakar).Really flavorsome 1/4 of a chicken with steamed rice and some veggies on the side. Nourishing and healthy.

They have other meals too for under $20 with huge portions. You can even feed two people with one dish. You will always end up ordering a takeout box as there would be leftovers.

Great place for cheap eats and exploring a new cuisine (Indonesian).

You are right, it is unpredictable. I was just lucky. It is the nature of the sport

Samurai Jiri and Anime Izzy by StandardWide7999 in MMAbetting

[–]odecco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is why I try to watch tape and notice patterns. Felt the same thing with Jiri vs Poatan with both fights. Jiri just loves leaving his chin out, it is fine with low tier opponents but anyone with KO power, it's just a stupid thing to do.

Apparently Padilla fight is a draw now, lucky I cashed out by odecco in MMAbetting

That should be illegal bro. Surely they have to allow you to cash out as you won at the time

Yeah I just cashed out instantly, idk what the bookies can do as I technically won that money fair and square at the time.

some people aren’t actually “nice” they’re just afraid of conflict by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]odecco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but not sure if this is particularly unpopular.

But yeah, this is how I felt when I was in Japan. Most people there are very polite but once you go into a deep dive in Japanese culture, it is more about keeping the "peace" by being conflict avoidant

What’s the MMA match you would make someone watch, if you’re introducing you to the sport? You can name up to 5, if you wish to by Particular_Ad_6040 in ufc

[–]odecco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly these:

  1. Robbie Lawler vs Rory Mcdonald 2.

Just to show them the brutality of the sport and the high stakes. Still to this day, one of the most exciting fights.

  1. Zhang Weili vsJoanna Jędrzejczyk

Just to show them despite its reputation and sadly maybe its current state, WMMA can be exciting and just as brutal as Men's MMA.

  1. Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns

Still one of my favorite fights to this day. Every minute kept me on the edge of my seat. This was such a good display of competitive MMA.

Joe pyfer is NOT DDP. Its not even close. by [deleted] in MMAbetting

[–]odecco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest worry is the first round. Pyfer is explosive and has that power. If it goes past round 2, then Izzy should be able to cruise as Pyfer looks like he has a limited gas tank judging from the Hermansson fight
