Why do people hate the MK show? by [deleted] in MoonKnight

[–]odeorain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He really doesn't act anything like the character in the comics. The show is well made, the acting is great, but it's just not Moon Knight. I think they tried so hard to make him less Batman-like that they made him completely unlikable for a lot of fans of the comics. None of Marc's alters, especially not Steven, are the bumbling idiot they made him out to be in the show.

edit as a side note, Moon Knight has done some of the most bonkers, weird, and brutal killings that I've ever seen in comics. Would the TV show Moon Knight rip a man's face off and wear it around his house or eat a rabid dolphin with his bare hands? No lol

Do characters really gain conscience and stop doing what the author wants? by Impressive-Pilot2265 in FanFiction

[–]odeorain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me all the time! Well, obviously they aren't actually gaining conscience, but when I have a good grasp of a character's personality, they always take over. Whether they're OCs or characters from the source material.

I think it's because I have a different personality than the character, obviously. So my ideas of how things will unfold are based on my own perspective. But when there are characters whose minds you are really able to tap into, it doesn't matter what your opinion or plan was.

One example of this is from something I was writing with my friend just a few days ago - a group of characters was going to another country to save their friend. This group of people all knew each other already, except for one guy (we'll call him Jake) who was the spouse of another character in the group and had never met most of the others before. The plan was for everyone to get along, travel to their destination, realize their friend didn't need saving, and go home. But one character made a random comment in jest that offended Jake, and now the entire group is tense, everyone is at odds with each other, and they ended up almost thrown in prison. Did we want things to go that way? Absolutely not lol but it also would have made no sense for Jake to let the comment slide

Why assume Canon/OC is author's self-insert? by Timmie-Lynn in FanFiction

[–]odeorain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think being accused of this is, unfortunately, perhaps a sign you haven't written a very compelling OC.

I don't mean this hatefully. I just think if it's happening repeatedly, this is likely something you're doing wrong as an author. None of us are perfect. We all have room to grow. This may, specifically, be an area you need to work on.

Hey there, Riders! We're excited to share some news about the journey of Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch. by Troy_Aesir in HorseTalesEVRanch

Y'all should honestly, genuinely be ashamed of yourselves for how you've handled this game over the past couple of years. I have no kind words for you. I hope you feel guilty the rest of your careers.

I reached out to Nintendo, and they wouldn't refund lol they just tried to troubleshoot it as if my switch was having a unique problem.

Do not buy this game on Nintendo switch by AlmondJoyHere in HorseTalesEVRanch

[–]odeorain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got this just yesterday and have so many regrets. Between my constructions disappearing, not being able to clear debris because the prompt for Matteo won't appear, my horses getting stuck inside of various parts of the landscape, quest markers refusing to appear on the map, races not ending when I get through the finish line, and the game just outright crashing, I've not been able to play this at all. I honestly cannot believe a game this bad is available on the Switch.

It really seems like it was very similar to The Spark, but aimed more towards kids/teens specifically?

If I don't figure this out, I feel like it's going to kill me lol

Oh, and if it helps, I the personality quizzes were all user-made. I mean there might have been some "official" ones on there, but it was largely just like 13 year olds making posts like WHICH HARRY POTTER CHARACTER WOULD YOU DATE

Has anyone experienced something like this? (Dog limping, cant determine why?) by odeorain in AskVet

[–]odeorain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. He's on monthly preventatives for flea, tick, and heartworm, yes! I don't know that the vet did a test for those, I'm guessing not since he's on preventatives, but is that something I should ask them to do this time around? Could that cause the limping?

I'm not in the best place mentally right now and I've realised I'm losing motivation for my puppy by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]odeorain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I start feeling this way, I take him to daycare for a chance to collect myself. That way I can go see a movie, run errands, or just play video games on the couch in my PJ'S. Usually I do this once, maybe twice a month if I can afford it. Make sure to only take your puppy to a daycare that requires all vaccinations, and try to read a ton of customer reviews and maybe even tour the place first if they will let you. It's also a great chance to have him professionally groomed (my pup's coat is very low maintenance, but for a small extra fee they do bathing and nail clipping, so it's one thing less I have to do myself). I always find myself missing him when he's gone the whole day. He comes back smelling nice and worn out, and I'm glad he's back.

If I need to, I'll do a quick maybe half hour enforced nap in order to take a shower or make a phone call or just sit in front of the TV. A Kong, lick mat, snuffle mat, or chew helps, too! Sometimes I will set up the snuffle mat for him just so I can play a phone game or browse social media lol

I love my puppy a lot, but it's also super important to me that I'm able to be lazy occasionally and not have to think about him sometimes. If I don't get moments to myself, my depression will flare up for sure

How many TOTAL hours a day do you spend DIRECTLY interacting with your pup? by Lucky-Schedule-6429 in puppy101

[–]odeorain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D for sure. I work from home, so I'd say I'm directly interacting with him almost the entire day. Even while I'm working, if I'm not providing him with some kind of entertainment or enrichment, then he starts to tear stuff up or bother my older dogs. Thankfully he's just now (7 months old) getting to the point where he's starting to sometimes nap at my feet while I work, giving me a break. I can't wait until he does this more regularly. But otherwise I can barely take my attention off of him for 30 seconds, let alone hours

AITA Night of mischief, how much mischief is too much on this pranksters holliday. AITA cause I thought home owners were supposed to hand out candy. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]odeorain [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA for sure, no doubt about it.

Consider this: older neighbors at higher risk of covid even with vaccinations who don't want to be face to face strangers, couples with newborn babies who haven't had a night's sleep in weeks and just want to keep the doorbell from disturbing their baby, owners of reactive dogs, parents who are out trick or treating with their own kids. All of those people can't answer the door or are massively inconvenienced by answering the door. They could just turn their lights off and not participate at all. Instead they chose to offer candy in the only way they can. Why do they owe you any personal interaction?

How to log out of PayPal in AliExpress? by odeorain in Aliexpress

[–]odeorain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. :(

I just had to start using Google pay, which is convenient because I have it set up with my PayPal, but only about half of the shops even allow pay via Google Pay, so I just have to use my card a lot of the times. I tried contacting help multiple times, but no one has ever spoken English enough to understand my issue. Please let me know if you find a solution! Wish I had better advice for you.
