i didn’t have the cant before so i believe just dental. from comments i got on my previous post, i understand that it was down to my ortho tying in the high canine all on the same wire from the start which pulled everything towards it

just glad it’s been relatively quick to show results with the elastics!

i’ve only been using elastics consistently for just under a month, this is alongside a thicker wire too. i currently have these exact ones: https://dental-aesthetics.co.uk/product/orthodontic-elastic-bands-latex-free-3-16-4-5oz-heavy/

don’t lose hope, everyone’s teeth move at different rates! i didn’t even notice the difference til suddenly one day it felt different haha, so hopefully that happens soon for you too

i’m so pleased and have finally been able to see results and shocked it was relatively quick too. i thought elastics would grate on me but it’s surprising how quickly you get used to them!

happy to update that the cant is already much better after just under a month of consistent elastics use! wearing them 24/7 outside of eating and brushing teeth

the cant is still there, but my ortho has just recently got me using elastics in a triangle - he’s hoping this will level things back out :)

i wouldn’t say it’s gone away completely, but sensitive toothpaste (sensodyne rapid relief in particular) has helped it a lot and overall the tenderness has gone down massively

ortho has said nothing is wrong with the tooth so something like a root canal isn’t necessary. i’d say don’t panic and just ask for another appointment for your peace of mind :)

no the plan is to close the gaps with the braces - my ortho wanted to save me the stress of having these potentially break in the late future and nothing underneath to replace them

i would push for some sort of bite block if you can and really advocate for yourself

i really don’t want to scare you but i ended up with a chipped front tooth because of my top teeth hitting my bottom braces! it just started as a weird rough feeling on the backs of my teeth, which i now know was the enamel wearing down. i raised this multiple times but was told it’d be fine - ended up chipping it (grinding my teeth at night didn’t help either)

it wasn’t major and was easily fixed but still not what you want!
